I don't rate spinners in LOI's unless they bring something different and can bat aggressively.  Axar and Jadeja are both SLA's and there are no other options. So, it's better to go with pace.

The selection commitee  has made a mockery of itself.Half fit players without any actual match practice are selected for Asia cup.

 

They have always known India is too dependent on Rohit and Virat and they didnt made any effort to select players for middle order.

 

It looks like they deliberately done it to include half fit superstar player into playing 11.

 

If Virat and Kohli are not in great form the Iyer,Rahul,Pandya,Jadeja ' s batting performance will be exposed badly

What is the point of Axar? He will never play as long as Jaddu is there so why waste a spot. Could have included a different type of player in Ashwin or Washy

The 2 batters, with unknown fitness levels, have been chosen as additional players with 15 other fit players.

 

While I am usually against choosing such players, in this case I think it is practical at this point as our existing MO batters are not good. 

 

With Rahul and Shreyas injured for a long time, the last 6 months preceeding the WC should have been used to make 2 new MO batters ready for these roles. But this was not done. 

 

Samson is not suited to the lower middle order and SKY's playing style was slways going to be hit snd miss for ODIs.

 

Tilak and Rinku could have been tried in ODIs after the IPL. 

 

As you always say, the replacements for injured big names are players who will not challenge the big names by their performances or potential.  They are just fill-ins to hold those places till the big names return.

They should be selected in the team ,captained by Ruturaj Gaekwad to access their fitness or they are prima donnas who will only play in Asia cup and world cup

They have made their minds to have Bhumra, Iyer and Kl in wc team, then let them get fully fit.

2-3 games  before wc wont make a change. TM has brought them selves in such a position that they need to pick half fit players, or this could have been the plan as it was already said TM has already selected a group of 20 players.

I agree on the half fit players... as good as KL and Iyer have been in ODIs i do not think they should be in the asia or wc squad... is there enough time for them to get match fit for WC?

 

 

However they have got the best possible MO options as potential  replacement in the squad...in managements defence...they gave Surya and Samson a good go to take up a MO spot... given how good SKY looks in T20is it is right he gets a long run. Yes different format and all. Not TMm fault that those two have not grabbed their chances

The sheer number of people who are dropping Siraj from their predicted XI is just astonishing. He's probably our best ODI fast bowler on current form and probably a better asset than even Kuldeep. 

 

Shami , sadly is showing signs of an age related decline and should have been phased out by now. He looked in a sorry state in the WTC final on multiple occasions..

Tilka varma is rushed to ODI Setup. He's not even consistent in recent t20's after the rumour about his selection in probable ODI Asia Cup/WC teams on internet.

 

What next after Asia Cup, everyone will shout for Rinku singh addition into ODI WC team if Hardik "Motor Mouth" Pandya is exposed to be a 1st Class passenger.
