Who else is there , who should be getting the call to replace these players.

Other than Chahal , who else needs to be taken off the list.

An extra fast bowler over Chahal.  Parag over one of Jadeja/Axar and any decent batsman (even Samson) over SKY

At least it would ensure that there is some depth available in the squad even if the personnel themselves are not the greatest .

With that squad , it is impossible to play any lineup without Pandya at 6 and Jadeja at 7.

The 3 who made that squad called Jadeja am automatic pick along with Kohli and Rohit.

SKY is better than Samson even on one leg. What has Parag done ?His bowling is not even part time.

Three fast bowlers for a tournament in Asia is good enough. Unless you have any replacement for Pandya, there is no room for another fast bowler.

People cannot keep blaming selectors.

Yeah sure.  Samson who averages 55 and strikes at 104 in the middle order is worse than SKY on 1 leg when even on 2 legs that bloke can't average 24.

We should take a guy who, on the eve of the World Cup, is trying to figure out the ODI format .

Hardik is not a substitute for a proper fast bowler unless he can give 10 solid overs every match.  Neither can Shardul.

Only 1 of them should be playing in any squad. You need a minimum of 4 proper quicks in any squad and an extra quick in SENA.

Riyan Parag is a very decent 6th bowling option. It is unfortunate that you don't have an eye for ability.  For what it's worth , Axar keeps getting smashed just like in his last ODI in India.

Dropping one of Axar/Jadeja who literally offer the same skillset is pretty much a no brainer.

And take a look at England's provisional squad of 15 for the World Cup  - They have picked 4 Frontline seamers + Sam Curran + Woakes + Stokes.

3 fast bowlers won't win you jack anywhere even in Asia

What Samson can do is big zero. There is a reason why he avgs 32 in List A which is very similar to SKY's list A .SKY has better SR and is proven atleast in t20s.

How will you fit 4 fast bowlers in the squad who offer nothing with bat.People need to stop comparing and aping England side.

Woakes, Willey and even Wood can bat decently. India is not England , they don't have any bowlers who can bat. They also have  Ali and Stokes to cover for any overs.

Expecting Indian batting to bat like England is another foolish thing. India does not have any batting after number 6.

We need solid 5 bowlers plus Pandya, so there is no room for Parag yet.It is too late to get a guy like Parag into the squad and expect him to perform in world cup. So it will be either Jadeja or Axar who will be more than decent in Asian and Indian pitches.

Pandya is already 6th bowler .

As per consensus from former selectors MSK and Sandeep Patil and coach Ravi bhai, this will be the squad for Asia Cup

Rohit

Ishan

Kohli

Shubman

Tilak

SKY

Pandya

Jadeja

Axar

Shardul

Kuldeep

Chahal

Bumrah

Shami

Siraj

Expect the actual squad to be only on similar lines.

If anyone was feeling romantic about Shastri after getting fed up of Dravid , this should wake you up

They ALL want the same players and squads. Don't expect anything radical with the current rotten system

There will be two keepers definitely. This squad has one keeper, Kishan. It will be Samson instead of Tilak or if Rahul is back then Rahul will be there and one of Samson/SKY will be there. I think Samson should be given a run ahead of SKY in ODIs.

My ODI World Cup squad :-

Rohit

Samson

Jadeja

Kuldeep

Shami

Siraj

Kishan(wkt)

Axar

Chahal

1 pacer( no real contender to think of, probably Prasidh, Arshdeep or Umran)

Pandya is already 6th bowler .

Who is talking about only England. Every team is taking more than 3 fast bowlers to the World Cup .  All their fast bowlers can bat?

Bumrah and Shami have shown the ability to hit a long ball in the past. Wood started batting decently only recently.

You can easily get a few hits from Bumrah and shami with a bit of prep.

Also, what is the point of talking about depth when you have allrounders starting to come in at 6.

No team is going to do that. You will neither have batting depth nor bowling depth in the end.

If Prasidh looks fit and good in Ireland, I will prefer his inclusion. He has been a really good ODI bowler.

The only problem is we already hv Bumrah and Siraj as automatic choices.  Inclusion of Prasidh would mean 3 tail enders plus Kuldeep.  Effectively, 4 tailenders.  Means we can't chase any total > 250 against any team. (Same old story would repeat)

He can be in the squad and used if Siraj or Bumrah are unavailable.

Shami, Bumrah and Siraj will be 3 pacers. Prasidh as backup will be good.

Nearly 16 days hv passed since the creation of this thread.  We are not even close to the date of announcement of the squad.  As per latest sources, it would be announced no sooner than 20 Aug.  Every other team announced their squads almost 10 days ago.  Why does bcci make so much of drama and suspense when everyone (incl. themselves) knows the end result...which is quite obvious ...a humiliating 1st round exit.

It does not matter, if it is England or any other team.

Indian fast bowlers cannot bat so three fast bowler is more than enough in any squad for matches to be played in India or Asia.

Pandya and Thakur will make up for other fast bowling needs.

What ability does Shami who has scored total 200 runs in his  odi career has, Bumrah has scored 47 total runs in his career.

No one is stopping both of them to become better batsmen.

There is no depth in Indian batting for last 10 plus years. It worked in 2011 as you could get away with just 4 bowlers and Dhoni was more than a batsman then.

If people want to live in lala land where every bowler can bat that is not the problem of selectors or current players.

We have allrounders in Ashwin and Jadeja who work in test cricket in  but they are not good in odis.

Sri lanka hasn't announced but they are usually last to announce in every tourney/series.

I hope they select Tilak at least.   SKY is 100% gonna be there..  Dravid Rohit see him as a finisher.

If the team needs depth, drop the specialist spinner and play both Pandya at 7 and  Axar at 8.

Playing multiple bits and pieces in place of proper batsmen will never work .

Nothing wrong in waiting till last minute.May be they want to see more of Tilak Verma and Jaiswal.

Who is going to bowl the overs then?

It is more important to have 5 legit bowlers than 6 legit batsmen. So what they are doing is not wrong.

No it's not. Batting and aggressive batting lineups generally win World Cups.

Between the 2 you always compensate bowling strength if you don't have a choice.

This 100%

People here just cannot digest the fact that we cannot afford Pandya and Jadeja at 6 and 7 while having a pathetic 8-11 who can't muster up 20 runs to save their lives. Having 6 out and out bowling options is not a necessity but a luxury that teams like England can afford thanks to their insane depth upto no.11.

Need to go back to what MSD did in 2011 and have 7 genuine batting options while somehow getting 10 overs from two of them.
