Our fielding is turning into an embarrassment

The team is doing so well in batting and bowling departments. Everything is looking so good with so many boxes ticked.

But our fielders are dropping way too many catches. Barring Gill's slip catching hardly anything to look forward to in this area.

Can't turn this around magically but hope at least catching is worked upon.

We all hv been saying this for long.   

Nothing seems to hv improved.  3-4 dropped catches , plenty of misfields, overthrows etc in every game.  It keeps getting worse and worse.

In both 2011 and 2013 CT, our fielding was top notch. Can't win tournaments with our level of fielding.

Thakur dropped a simple catch.  And in the next over did misfield which went to the ropes. Should hv been easily stopped.   I think he is overweight.  Needs to lose 5-6 kilos.  LOL

I've seen rutu drop a catch every game he plays

We are the worst catching side in this World Cup cycle. Only better than Netherlands

He was borderline overweight in Gabba test. Now added more kgs. In 6 months you can easily lose 10 kgs with a bit of cardio and diet.

A single drop catch could effect team psychology especially if a simple catch missed. In a do or die game grabbing 50% chance should be the priority let alone dropping dollies or certain catch.

Ruturaj is a safe catcher generally. Good technique.  Jaiswal, Gill are also good catchers. I am going to give benefit of doubt to Ruturaj. besides he is not part of the set up anyway. So he is relevant only after world cup.   Thakur doesn't have any reputation to be a bad fielder.  But definitely not stand out either. Instead of improving he has regressed. Fast bowlers struggling on the field is not new to us. We have been seeing this since the days of Munaf Patel. Only decent guy was Umesh. Rest are all average to crap. Siraj has marginally improved.  Bumrah is not even trying stoppable balls. Chahar is an okay fielder. Take good catches.

Among main guys Gill,Kohli,Jaddu,SKY are good fielders. Iyer drops catches sometimes but is good ground fielder. Rohit,Ashwin are good catchers.Rest all poor.

Kohli is a serial dropped. remember his drop against SA in the world T20. You can always count on him dropping a very crucial catch.

Agarkar was another one who was a very good fielder.

 

From young bowlers Mavi & Nagarkoti are very good fielders, Hangargekar is also a good fielder with strong throwing arm like Umesh.
