Impressed with Rohit's selfless batting upfront. Gill  is in form of his life. He should try to start with a better legacy.  Frustrating aspect is he was looking good mostly. He can absolutely tear down the attack once in. Hope he brings his A game in the coming matches. Indian team will look way more intimidating with Gill going good.

what is gill doing? scoring attractive 20s and 30s mostly. quite a feckless player.

2011 was also very honed for our SC pitches. deep batting, lots of part-time spin bowling.

To put this comment in perspective in the 2011 WC, India bowled Yuvraj, SRT and Kohli in the Final. They made up for the 5th bowlers and thereby allowing India to field an extra batsman.

yes. they will probably all tuk-tuk their way to 300  on flat track

This one takes the cake. ZERO sense of what India has done batting first recently, or just a deliberate comment to look cool and mock the team.

In 2023 we have batted 1st in 11 innings, and our scores have been

373/7 - SL 306/8

390/5 - SL 73 all out

349/8 - NZ 337 all out

385/9 - NZ 295 all out

117 - Aus 121/0

181 - WI 182/4

351/5 - WI 151 all out

266 - Pak didn't bat

356/2 - Pak 128 all out

213 - SL 172 all out

399/5 - Aus 217 all out

So 7 out of these 11 occasions, we batted the opposition out of the game setting a target. 6 were 350+ scores. But go on with your tuk tuk mocking

Well done India. Could not think of this one month back !

Hats off to VK. Fantastic job so far. Did not like him in the last 2 years for the things he did as captain and his game vs spin.

Playing spin rather decently now . Need to give credit to him what he has done in this WC so far.

Couple of things need to be taken care of -  India cannot depend upon just 2 batters to go over the line - so far only VK & KL have done it. High time Gill tries to play longer innings in each match going forward, he will score if he stays. Rohit cannot be consistent always since he is taking risk at the top. So  Gill and 1 more MO bat has to come good urgently.

Have a concern re: Shreyas as a MO bat against high pace short stuff. Does not give confidence at all. If we are playing SA, NZ in SF & Final , should he be

the batter or we should try out SKY /Ishan before league stages end and decide  who is better bet against SA, ENG,NZ if we meet them in SF & Final. ?  We can play Iyer against other teams .

Need to watch how Kuldeep comes up vs SA & ENG and that could decide how far we go in this WC.

For the long term Iyer does not seem to be the horse to bet on. I would rather go for a player who is solid  but can accelerate and can bowl some overs.  Better to invest on Tilak Varma , Ruturaj (assuming Jaiswal will be opening) .  Also we have a readymade Pant when gets fit.

Boxes being ticked slowly. They have raised the expectations so high.

How about the middle order,Shreyas has been quite disappointing so far

Jadeja at 7,his low sr when RR is demanding

The conundrum of strengthening bowling leading to long tail and strengthening batting means explosive sides outbatting us,still there

Feel they satrt sending Jadeja up the order now ,to avoid any emergency situation

Everything won't be perfect ever. Pandu coming back will lengthen bowling without reducing batting.

Yes,but to some extent things can be manageable

Iyer like expected falling prey to his short ball weakness

Having all 3 premiere fastmen+Pandya gives huge advantage to India but tail gets lengthen

We will have 4 tailenders

That means we have to restrict opposition everytime

Thakur is not much better than Shami currently with bat.

Iyer can be replaced by Kishan/SKY if he keeps failing. Though I feel he'll be important when we bat first.

Didn't like Shardul Thakur over Shami,as he is rubbish in both departments

But ,I'm saying if we are adding more bowlers ,batsmen need to take extra responsibility now as we move to next phase of this WC

Iyer with his glaring hole won't do much in first inns either,i had my reservations about him year or half ago but he looked more gritty between and SKY/Kishan

SKY/Kishan are lottery, they have their own game ,know only one gear but Iyer neutralises it by his weakness

Anything less than a close Final lose will be considered a massive failure. Even losing the Final from here would be devastating.

This is India's best moment to win the WC since 2011.
