I see Saurashtra I see sheer lack of talent in the side...  How the heck are they playing  so many games vs RoI year after year?

Ranji standards have gone so down @Nikhil_cric

They don't have many stars, but as a combined unit they click.

If you see their bowling attack..Unadkut, Sakariya, Jani, Mankad all are very accurate and is able to maintain their line and length on the flat pitches of Rajkot....D Jadeja is also a very good spinner and they all attack like a unit which helps them being a so successful in Ranji.

Same was true for Karnataka few years back, when trio of Vinay, Aravind & Mithun was super accurate and lead to many successful campaigns in domestics.

In a way it's sad state of affairs for our domestic batters as just accuracy and bit of movement is enough to break through their defences, and the same "accurate" bowlers start to play in internationals..they are mauled by international batters.

That's why our domestic needs reform.  South Zone attack destroyed everyone in Deodhar and nobody can be sure whether it is really good bowling of the fact that batters suck even more .

Or maybe it's the pitches or kookaburra doing too much.

Regardless, a 6 team structure is highly overdue.

Maybe on Indian pitches  they can work...  I saw Karnataka team destroying Netherlands & Asian Games bound Indian squad few days ago.

Now that side has so much potential & ability.

These RoI guys who are supposed to best of the best in the country won't learn anything from a side like Saurashtra.

Ranji reform is badly needed.  Max 8 teams should be allowed & more like a zonal Competition would be better.

Absolutely

Duleep should be the paramount tournament. Each teams plays the other home and away. Ranji as a parallel feeder sub-tournament

Is the ROI team good ? Could Harshit Rana have played instead of one of the two left arm all rounders?

Iguess there are some away at Asian games but Where is Easwaran , Panchal (i know hes old but is one of the best domestic openers)? On bowling front no Kuldeep Sen?

Given that Saini did get picked for India not a surprise pick. Kaverappa who is making news recently is also not a surprise pick. Saurab and Mulani some becoming some sort of veterans in domestic spin circuit. So they are not surprising picks either.  But choice of Pulkit Narang  seems supicious. He is 29. Doesn't exactly have great FC record. Among the seamers Akash Deep had better FC numbers this season. Harshit not bad. 26 wickets in 5 matches.  Even among s pinners there were guys better than Pulkit.

strongly disagree.

Why?   You can only trust the system if you have the best playing the best .

It's not like the BCCI is going to allow domestic players to go abroad and play leagues

And, they clearly don't rate performers from their own tourneys like VH and Deodhar

6 teams in a country of a billion? it will kill off cricket in india. There is no point trying, even now it's quite hard to be noticed.

if anything we need more teams along with better coaching and talent scout and pitches.
