It will not depend on rankings of this year's World Cup, but Odi Team rankings. There will be a cut off date and Top 8 Ranked sides will automatically qualify for the WC. It's Top 8 Ranked excluding Zimbabwe and SA who qualify for the tournament as hosts. Rest of the other teams play the qualifier. So as long as England are among the Top 8 Ranked Odi Sides at that cut off date they will be safe. The cut off date is usually set to a few months before the start of the tournament. So could be somewhere around 2026. Edited October 26, 2023 by rageaddict

putrevus Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 They got extremely lucky in 2019 with three losses and still qualified.

Yes that's correct..Sri Lanka, Pakistan and even Afghanistan are still alive in the tournament. Pakistan's destiny will be known tomorrow, if they lose they will be out too. Zero_Unit 1

rageaddict Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 This was the Fifth straight win for SL against England in the World Cups. SL defeated England in 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023 World Cups. Zero_Unit and putrevus 1 1
LordPrabhzy Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Mathematically Eng can still qualify- otherwise news headlines would have said 'Eng out of the WC' If they win the next 4 games thats 8 points more so 10 points altogether
putrevus Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Jason Roy was sacked for no reason other than to accommodate Harry Brook. They underestimated his importance.

dilliboy Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 If SA beat Pakistan tomorrow, then rest of the WC will get boring with the top 4 already decided.

NZ still have to win 2 matches against stronger sides to qualify. NZ have only defeated minnows and England so far. Utna toh SL ne bhi Kiya hai.
BH-BAIB Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Poyzz are storming into the semi final even if they lost tomorrow. England SHOULD thrash India for some learnings.
putrevus Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 The more we dig deep of the reasons why India has been getting knocked out in important matches. The most common culprit in all those losses has been that useless BHUVI. Last major loss 170 was defendable if we had right bowling attack against these overrated FTBs but Bhuvi along with another useless fellow Arshdeep laid a giant egg with new ball. rollingstoned 1
coffee_rules Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 SL has defeated England in the last 5 WCs - 2007-2023!! Eng's bogeyman team!

Thats the biggest reason. The 2019 wc sf was loaded against india. Pitch covered under rain.. day 2 of odi.. even a critical umpires call went against india.. kohli if I remember putrevus 1
Lord Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 5-0 to SL v Eng since 2003. That's mighty impressive.
