Tactically what should be India's approach to the last two games?

Interested to hear thoughts hear on what India should do in the last two games and their approach?

One suggestion would be to rest any player that feels the need to rest/recharge before Semi's.

I would like to see Kishan and Ash play a game, if anything just to give them a run before the semi/final so they have some match fitness.

I also would like to see India use a 6th bowler be it Kohli, Iyer, SKY and plan the game to do so in case one of our 5 bowlers breaks down in a final.

Play Thakur and Ashwin both leaving out Kuldeep for the south africa game. Also would mean only one of Iyer/Sky gets picked.

Kuldeep won't have that much of a surprise factor against the South Africans as they are used to facing Shamsi in the nets even if Kuldeep is still a better bowler.

Against Netherlands might as well give prasidh a go in place of Bumrah. Also give Ishan kishan a match in place of KL

And yet he decimated them in the series earlier in the year, with good leggies we don't need surprise factor. I'm not sure where this mystery spin or hiding your best bowlers BS came from! Back in the day McWarne would never miss a game even if the opposition was better than them :hitler:

Rest kuldeep , bumrah , Shami

get prasidh , ashwin and thakur against South Africa

let our batsmen play the South African bowlers - the exposure will help them in finals

sharma gill kohli Ayer kishan and sky - rest rahul

see who performs best . Kishan over Ayer is my choice - Ayer gonna get a lot of short balls and tall South Africans likely will be his nemesis

Play your best 11:

There will be a week gap between SA & Netherland game.

You cannot plan for freak injuries.

Actually you can plan for freak injuries, its called contingency plans.

Thats why you have a squad with depth players to cover.

The fact that India is going into every game here with just 5 actual bowlers is a product of not planning properly for this WC.

Our lineup should have at least 6 bowlers.

You dont wait for a disaster than plan accordingly, you have a strategy in place to ensure you can deal with a worse case scenario.

S Iyer

KL (WK)

J Bumrah

M Shami

K Yadav

Yes you can minimize them. Bumrah has been very cautious in not diving in boundary and it has yielded great results. While Pandu went to stop full blood hit with his foot knowing there is no like to like replacement for him.

Resting them in inconsequential directly reduces the chance of a 'freak' injury and allows then to rest  further.

Bumrah should be rested here. Maybe Kuldeep as well but it's touch and go.. Bring in Prasidh and Ashwin.

If we reach the finals, Ashwin is going to play definitely at Ahmedabad. There's a lot of assistance for spin there

no way. You can't play someone straight in finals. Plus fast bowlers are doing well too.

Bowl Kohli/ Iyer / Rohit... whoever we think are the backup options

Play Prasidh in place of Bumrah

Give Iyer, SKY, Jadeja, Shami, Kuldeep, Kishan some batting practice.

I would like SKY and Jaddu to get batting practice; the others are not so important.

agree with the rest
