SKY has been the biggest batting failure in our CWC campaign

Ironically in the game that India beat Australia, we effectively played 2 pace bowlers and 3 spinners. Pandya bowled just 3 overs and Siraj 6.

India foolishly believed their form was real when in fact it was fraudulent. India were under performing, just that the other countries were doing worse.

And I'm surprised they didn't follow the successful approach they followed both in 2011 at Motera, and the earlier game at Chennai against Aussies. I thought they would go horses for courses and bench Siraj in favor of Ashwin. At Wenkhade it makes sense to go with extra pacer but not at Ahmedabad and Chennai.

India paid the ultimate price again of not picking Ashwin for a Final.

Despite having played 25+ balls, this TTF never looks assured at the crease.  This 33 yr old hack should be removed ASAP.    In the absence of pandya, the TM can try Rinku Singh as a finisher. Both in ODIs and T20s.

He chews gum and has all the style and flair of a Ronaldo or Messi, but plays like teenage high school girl.:hysterical:

There's no guarantee that India would've won the match with Ashwin. But Ashwin was more likely to trouble Warner and Head instead of Siraj at this venue. Take out Siraj's performances against SL, and he has been pretty ordinary. I really thought India would go with Ashwin to trouble Aussies' left handed openers. Really missed a trick there but expecting such a change with Dravid at the helm is not really expected.

I think it's a cultural thing. There're very few genuine fans who care about trophies and team results over players' worship. Most of the Indian fans are actually individual players fans than fans of Indian cricket. They're happy as long as their player performs, or someone from their region/state gets into the team. Look at the backing behind Sanju Samson who's highly inconsistent, and I'm sure he'll get in ahead of likes of Rinku Singh despite folks seeing that Rinku has a better temperament.

Even the BCCI and admins know that as soon as IPL starts fans will forget everything, or a bilateral series with WI or SL is enough for to make majority of the fans happy seeing their favorite players scoring 100s. They only care about money and power, hence likes of Jay Shah, Sharad Pawar, Shashank Manohar, Rajiv Shukla etc. involved in cricket when they've no business doing so. End result is we'll continue to underperform and basically be at the same level as likes of WI, Pak, SL etc. despite being way ahead of them in terms of infrastructure and resources. Likes of Aus, and Eng will always be ahead of us as they have their heart in the right place, and genuinely care about the team's performance. They may make wrong decisions but will course correct and try to improve. Not like us where nothing changes and we continue the same way with the same set of failures and similar approach & processes. It's really a curse to be an Indian cricket fan when you know the board itself doesn't care as much as you do, and unfortunately we can't just stop being ICT fans.

Dude you are smashing it...  I wish someone had said this live on air.  Indian fans are most Clueless bunch ever.

Third class mentality & hence average results.

Look, I agree.

Im not foolish here, there is plenty wrong with this team. It is rotten.

I think you mentioned earlier about Kohli playing for his 100. That sets the tone and mindset for the entire dressing room, where milestones are more important.

India played like individuals. Australia played like a team.

Ashwin probably wouldnt have won us the match, but he may have made it a bit closer.

The only player IMO that could have changed the result is Pant with his form prior to his injury. But for all purposes, he may never play the same way again, so the point is moot.

Biggest mental midget, bigger than KL Rahul, has never performed when it mattered, be it T20WC or the WC23.

His backing by the TM has been the worst decision made in the last decade by the Indian Team. A fraud player.

And yet he was handed over a test debut by our brain dead TM few months ago. The worst batter in our history to hv been given a test debut.

Can someone explain to me why SKY was not promoted up the order to get more match practice after India secured finals qualification?

Absolute madness that they allowed Kohli and co to stat pad their careers with useless milestones.

This.

He didn’t perform as we wanted and is probably not going to play in ODIs.  But management didn’t exactly give him every opportunity.

Yes there is no doubt that batting till 7 is ideal.

Aussies tho had 3 bowlers to fulfill the extra 10 overs.

We had 1 in Pandya assuming you drop Jaddu.

So that's my point . They were the team loaded with batting "allrounders" and that balance worked fine.

They always go that route and always pays off for them .

Also they played only 1 specialist spinner.

ODI cricket has always been about that. Batting allrounders and quicks.

Selecting 3 specialist spinners and then playing shardul thakur as a bowling allrounder are the kind of ideas India needs to get rid of at least by 2027.

That was such a slap in the face of al the Ranji and FC performers. Sarfraz deserved that spot. He has been scoring runs like Bradman for the last 3 seasons but still not picked - probably due to his performances in IPL. Sad that our selectors can't differentiate across formats and pick players for Tests and Odis based solely on IPL. Dravid should've been kicked out due to SKY's selection in the Test team.
