England spinners have out bowled Indian spinners

Recommended Posts

Look at the other way. England batsmen played spinners better. We cannot seriously think Bashir, half tracker specialist Rehan, Floater Hartley are better spinners with more skills. England came fully prepared. They have array of sweep shots at their disposal. If needed the tall dude Crawley steps out and smashes the spinner.

Our batters played poorly and english batters handled ours spinner batter

It is not the first noobs they struggled against. Ajaz's patels 10 wicket haul would have been valuable against this attack. Just that we outbatted them.  Theys truggled against Kuneman, Todd Murphy, Leach. There was this guy Dom bess who bowled absolute tripe yet picked 4 for 76 and England won the test.

Even if you compare 2016 series and 2024 series, Indian spinners were struggling most of the time in 4 days in first 3 tests or even all 5 tests. It was 4th - 5th day where they picked up lot of wickets in 2016. With bazball approach, England is ensuring that they bat mostly early and in good batting conditions.

There was a period when India used to utterly dominate the likes of Shane warne, Murali, Herath at home. SUre they had their own peter such moments. Those were rare. Current lot literally struggle against any spinner even in good batting conditions. We never claimed Harbhajan outbowled Shane warne. JUst that Indian batsmen outbatted their batsmen.

DRS has made spinners more potent.

No guarantees that batsmen from that era would have dominated in this era.

Indians used their feet a lot back then. You don't see that. So DRS or no DRS lack of using feet would make them struggle against Warne, Murali big time. THey will test outer edge, inner edge against our batsmen who don't pick them from the hand.

Warne and Murali bowled a lot slower than modern spinners. The consistent 90 kph finger spinners who targeted the stumps were rarer then. Bit harder to use your feet and the quicker spinners of today.

Ashwin has regressed no doubt but the difference here is the batting .

Our batsmen are not good enough or talented enough at the highest level of cricket ,England batsmen are better than us and play attacking brand of cricket.

Had our spinners bowled against our batsmen ,they would have faired even better than the English counterpart

It has to be attributed to the fact that the attacking approach with sweeps has messed up Ind spinner's lengths. Watch any series before this; they'll be bowling a particular line & length all day. They can't do it now since the same length and same line will invariably invite the sweep or in the case of Crawley, nonchalant skipping down the track. As a result, they're trying to vary their lengths and invariably bowling too full or too short at times.

Also, the pitches so far has not been the kind of raging turner we dished out in previous test matches. I still believe Baxball will not be effective if we prepare such pitches as sweep shots will create many more chances. I hope the rest of the pitches have bounce at the very least if not much turn. Else, Aswin & co will be swept to oblivion a la Hyderbad.

How are the Indian batsmen less talented than England, even with so many no performers, India beat them comfortably in second tests.First test they had huge lead which bowlers should have won the match  with ease.

Captaincy is bigger issue here, Stokes is giving their spinners confidence to buy wickets where as Rohit is clueless on how to even set proper fields.

Ashwin has looked below par also. But even a below par Ashwin with a decent captain would have not lost first test.
