Stokes has taken 42 wickets, while Joe Root has taken 40 wickets during same time. The problem is, English team relied so heavily on him, his body and mind both failed. Now, he has become smarter and understands powe of pay cheque. He won’t do things which will result him going back to what he was before he took captaincy( ie battered man). But One should not rule out the threat he poses to opposition in one off crunch games. ie He can raise his game to win a final match but he hasn’t got a body which will carry whole English team on his back to make it into finals. So he is done in my view. He will keep captaincy and may occasionally produce outstanding performances say Ashes in last game where series is decided on last match Edited March 9 by mishra Link to comment
