This team is shaping up remarkably well fro Australia test series , I think it will be one of greatest test series and India is looking good for third in a row

Preferred 11

Rohit

Jaiswal

Gill

Kohli

Sarfaraj

Rahul(wk)

Jadeja

Ashwin

Bumrah

Shami

Siraj

Back up

Jurel

Kuldeep

One bat

Two pacer

Which are best option for 3 remaining spots?please comment

At moment can only think of Mukesh who I think will be decent pick

There are really not many pace backup

Batsman rituraj/Sai will be my choice

Not sold on pant ever coming back so not considered

we are huffing and puffing even at home, so it seems presumptuous to think of a third series victory in Oz.

No, we have a non existent MO & our tail is horrendous - the only way we win is if we score big all 5 tests! Winning 5 test is that much harder than 4, that last 1% is exponentially harder in some cases :om:

The main concern will be our pace bowling backup because it will be very tough for Bumrah and Shami to play all 5 test matches so need to rotate them. Unfortunately the ones we have tried has not been upto mark.

Pant will be in by that time.

Just curious, if he has a very average IPL, would you pick him?

Under what form line is picked for a huge away tour in Australia, where he wont be keeping either.

If history is any indication, India better have multiple pace bowler back ups.

Our bowlers will break down in Australia.

There is good time in between IPL and OZ Tour. Even 80% of the batsman, he would be dangerous there.

We are not

We are thrashing England with half the side missing one way or the other

With gill jaiswal sarfaraj best young batsman we have had in a decade or more and Kohli back to his best Indian batting will do very well

Just need to find good pace back up

Gillie boy may or may not be in the side by that time.

Kela is Kela. God knows how he will perform.

Ashwin needs to go and start practicing for that tour post IPL.

Ideally Jaddu should also focus just on test cricket but we won't learn. He will be picked for LOIs.

Sarfraz game against pace and bounce yet to be tested.

Rohit, Kohli, Ashwin, Shami could either do well in OZ...or be totally over the hill - la 2011.

Preparation for the Aussie tour must start now.

Long term thinking needed.

And we know how good we are at that.

A foreign coach plus Bharat Arun...I would back India to put on a spirited fight and maybe just maybe even win.

But with the current management.... :giggle:

So lets see how things shape up over the course of the year.

Hope we get our act together after the inevitable World T20 humiliation.

if Eng didn't bat like a bunch of bimbos in the 4th innings of the 2nd test, we could have been looking at 2-0.

we have no MO, no spinners (asswin in serious decline), and no back up pacers

we will lose 3-1 in Oz tour this time

Would take a 3 -2 loss. We just haven't had proper backups in place and we won't be prepared In time.

"If my aunt had balls , she'd be my uncle"

You do realise that the only reason why we won't be 3-0 up is because of our brainless batting in Hyderabad right?

See how this series ends up first. Too close to call and current side has serious holes and deficiencies even in home conditions. Away in Aus will be a completely different ball game. Dravid-Sharma combo has to be terminated to stand any chance.

yes, so the point is that it could have gone either way, and was a fairly close fought series. it should not be interpreted as one side dominating the other

I heard Rohit did well as captain today (couldn't watch the game). So kudos to him.

But the **** he pulled this series...if he does that in Aus...they would whitewash us.

Captaincy is a big big question mark.

he did ok. even here, there were some odd decisions

New batsmen have been introduced.

Jaiswal, Sarfraz and Jurel looking good. (  Although ability to play bounce is still untested )

Weak point is backup pace bowlers. Akashdeep maybe decent.

It's really sad that Harshit Rana and Mayank Yadav missed the whole Ranji season due to injury. They are the sufficiently accurate genuine quicks with wicket taking ability and bounce.

If Harshit becomes fit and looks in decent form.later on, my 5 pacers will be

Bumrah

Shami

Siraj

Akashdeep

Harshit

Need 1 more pacer who is preferably sufficiently accurate, quick and bouncy.
