Devdutt Padikkal vs Rajat Patidar for #3?

Recommended Posts

Paddikal has always looked too loose to me..  He has no foot movement virtually all hands.  Only advantage is him being a left hander.

I rate Tilak Verma above him.. Tight technique than him and more range.

But here Patidar deserves one final chance at least.

Now that KL is definitely out for 4th Test , who should play at #3?

Patidar hasn't looked particularly impressive and Devdutt is another left hander .

It's high time TM looks past KL Rahul already. Too many fitness issues and gets injured frequently for someone who is playing only as specialist batsman in tests.

Rajat Paitdar looks like he has low confidence and doesn't look like he belongs at the international level. His body language and style of play shows lack of self belief without which you won't go far in international cricket.

It has been nearly 25 days since the 1st test ended.   Kela still injured?   LOL.  This despite having failed to last even 20 balls in the 2nd inning (1st test).  Captain and TM did everything possible to make sure he remained injury free. No keeping duties assigned to him.  Still this loser (who averages barely 35 in tests) sucks with his fitness.

weird to see so many supporting patidar despite looking very below par against a decidedly poor attack. even bharath has scored more than him this series. would rather try padikkal this test, or even get in axar (as a batting AR)

patidar is finished

Seems that not only is Rahul mentally weak but physically too. He's always been injury prone and missed a ton of games over the years.

Madness of Indian Cricket, we need to simultaneously win the series but also prepare for Australia.

Need to give Padikkal a chance to deliver. I dont mind even Axar as well. Patidar is not at Test level.

At the moment Patidar can't seem to buy runs on pattaas. To me it seems he's stuck with a split personality issue be a classical bat (run banake/nikalke) vs be a dasher (tadi) as a result his basics are shot. His last 2 dismissals to spinners were almost identical with him sitting on his heels while playing nothing strokes.

Give him another or don't; I don't have a horse in that race as long as the other batters bat close to or better (than they have till now) around him.

Reports are that he is almost out of 5th test too. As seen before, his injuries take very long to heal and he misses out due to injuries like fast bowlers. It is worrying that both KL and Pandya are seen as next captaincy candidates and both are extremely injury and long layoffs prone.

You want me to brutally honest here.

The Indian Cricket side is an absolute joke and farcical when it comes to physically preparing the players.

Indian players fall into 4 categories, morbidly obese, overweight, physically in shape or malnourished.

Its a national shame that we have these categories, as anyone that represents India should be healthy and physically in shape.

Health and fitness is a key component to any sportsman but for Indian Cricket its more of an inconvenience than a necessity to produce the best sporting outcomes.
