Majestic
KL is also an option for keeper bat for Australian conditions. High time for India to identify Shardul's replacement. Link to comment
Majestic
Also, Kuldeep should start playing ahead of Ashwin in overseas conditions soon. Yes, the three pacers can't bat but Kuldeep can be effective on these conditions with bowl. Link to comment
Popular Post express bowling
A lot may change from now to then ... but based on the info we have now. 1. Rahul 2. Jaiswal .. LHB 3. Gill 4. Kohli 5. Pant .. LHB / Sarfraz if Pant is not ok 6. Jurel ( wk ) 7. Jadeja .. LHB 8. Harshit Rana .. quick and low average pacer who can bat 9. Akashdeep .. quick and low average pacer who can bat 10. Bumrah 11. Shami / Kuldeep in Sydney etc. 12. Sudarshan .. LHB 13. Sarfraz 14. Padikkal .. LHB 15. Ashwin / Axar 16. Kuldeep 17. Prasidh / Himanshu Chauhan 18. Siraj .. Need to move away from Rohit, Shardul, Mukesh etc. .. Both Harshit Rana and Akashdeep are fast, tall, hit the deck, bouncy, have low FC averages and can bat somewhat. Need both of them in the playing 11. .. I have alternating RHB and LHB to make it tough for bowlers. .. Siraj is blowing hot and cold these days. Usually cold and rarely hot. No way should he be a first choice starter in the 11. .. Pant should not keep wickets. Infact, his batting ability after accident is not known either. So, must keep backup. The Realist
Shami is done. Riddled with injuries, had another operation and circa 40. G_B_ 1 Link to comment
G_B_
With so many injuries i think there is no point speculating. We are assuming the pant will be the same post injury. Kl is very brittle. Serpico 1 Link to comment

Shami was blowing away batters for fun a few months ago in the WC. Anyone can have injuries and operations. Even youngsta pacers too. He is still bowling with more intensity and pace than younger pacers like Siraj, Mukesh, Avesh etc. Edited February 27 by express bowling Mosher and raki05 1 1 Link to comment
bowl_out
I'd play Sundar ahead of Shardul. The 4th seamer is likely to be under bowled anyway. Rather have an offie who can bat left handed. If Sundar has continued success, he can potentially replace Ashwin in Home Tests eventually Link to comment

Shami puts everything into the ball. Seam position, generates bounce and tries to hit those hard lengths abd bowls 135 to 145 which is so much harder to do. He deserves his place in the team. But injuries will take longer to heal no matter what he does. Link to comment

Frustrated
We can discuss as much as we want. But it's too early. A lot of changes might take place by then. (Some forced ones too). Dec 2024 is a long way to go. Link to comment

Create and develop similar backups well in advance for all positions so that there is preparation for unavailability of some players. More so when a player is injury prone or is currently injured. Our biggest problem is that we start preparing for these big tours / tournaments with little time left. Remember the WT20 when we did not prepare a fast bowler to replace an already injured Bumrah. wanted_desi
Jaiswal Rohit Gill Kohli - Might be expecting 3rd Child - In that case KL Jurel (WK) Pant Sundar Kuldeep Bumrah Shami/Siraj Akash Deep Please no Ashwin or Jadeja in Australia. Link to comment
