Can India Avoid the Trolls? Tension Peaks Before WC Clash vs Pakistan

Here we go again. The usual tension grips us as we prepare to face Pakistan in the WC yet again. Yeah, yeah, the streak was broken, it doesn't matter. The Indian team is strong on paper, Pak just lost to the USA in their previous match. But still, that gnawing, relentless tension of facing them in a World Cup match is unbearable.

And to top it off, there's no Jaiswal and no Kuldeep in the playing XI. Great. Just another worry to pile onto the already high stack. I hope we do well tomorrow. The mere thought of dealing with the cheap Pakistani trolls if they manage to win by some fluke is already driving me up the wall.

Streak was always for ODI WC. T20 is simply too finicky and unpredictable a format for the streak to continue. A good toss to win, a lucky umpiring decision, or a streaky edge can change the game. On that Dewbai pitch, winning the toss was as good as winning the match, and it looks like this NY pitch is no different. Team batting first at NY will struggle, and that's why we need to add batting depth by including Jaiswal in place of Axar or Jadeja.

I don't why our fans are nervous for this game..

1. The streak™ is no longer there in this format.

2. This is an inconsequential game for us. Losing it means absolutely nothing for our progression or the opponents we face in the super 8. (Yeah we ain't losing to USA or Canada).

3. All the pressure is on Paxtan as they're on the brink of an embarassing first round elimination.

So just take a chill pill , enjoy the game and take the result with a bucket load of Tata salt. :two_thumbs_up:

The second point. The fact that Pak beating Ind would be the best possible result from this group as Ind will most definitely thrash USA and Canada and Pak won't lose to any minnow again in this group. It's the script. :wall:

I think the result will impact the teams we play in the next round. I thought if we end up 1st in the group we get easier games. If we drop the game to Pak we can potentially end up 2nd in the group resulting in tougher games in Super 8s.

No the super 8 groups are already fixed.

India , Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka will all be in the same group if they qualify. Same for Pakistan, England, South Africa and West Indies.

While every loss to Pak hurts, this will be relatively mild because CT and 152-0 had more shock value. In T20 now you can expect that off day and even more so on these crappy pitches.

Ind- Pak in super 8

So you are saying Indian players are FC fixer who will lose intentionally.

First time I don't really care about the result of an Ind-Pak WC game. Just win the damn trophy and end the drought. As long as we win the whole thing I wouldn't mind a 152/0 repeat and trolling by Pak fans/media.

Aus lost the group game against us in Chennai, got beating of a lifetime against RSA.....beat both these teams in SF/F. Eng got humiliated by Ireland in 2022 T20 WC, who cares?

The Pak game wins are what sustains stars like Kohli. The narrative of - without Kohli we would have lost the Pak game - is pushed by PR and his stans.

Because they achieve nothing in terms of trophies these on off games are hyped up.

In 90s and most of 2000s these contests were overhyped because Pak was formidable, and also we were never title favorites. But last 10 years we enter every tournament as top 2-3 contenders, so anything less than trophy should be a failed campaign. Unless we meet Pak in some ICC KO, these games are only for PR.

Ah ok. I like the 2nd group better. Aussies are Aussies and we always struggle against kiwis.

Pakistan has never beaten India when Kuldeep played.   India has played against Pakistan with Kuldeep 6 times. 5 times won once no result.

Drop Dube. Move Kohli to 3 and open with jaiswal

Dube's bowling can come in handy on this pitch. Plus we need more batting depth on this pitch. Better to drop one of Axar or Jadeja in favor of Jaiswal. And rest of the batsmen drop  one spot with Kohli coming in at 3. On this pitch Kohli doesn't need to force the pace and play his natural game with 120-130 SR
