Pant is a problem in T20

Don't know why Pant is the preferred wk in T20. He is clutch but not in T20s

 

He has  been given numerous chances ( 70+ T20s) but have medicore returns.

 

In this world cup, he has been a total failure including a 3 dropped knock vs Pak.

 

If he is there for impact? Sorry that is missing also. He starts too cautiously and then play some ugly sweeps and hacks and then gets out. Almost same story every match.

 

IPL 2024 stats were misleading. 150 SR was below par on those highways.

 

Unfortuanetly its anothwr case of mixing format and seniority bias.

He's a player who's best suited for tests. He needs those gaps in the outfield. Plays very high-risk shots for T20s. Also, he doesn't really have the power game to clear the field at will. His style would work well in tests though for changing the momentum.

Pant is a below par T20i or ODI batter, his batting style is not suited in an open field.

 

He does not have power or a 360 kind of game, even in IPL this seasons as well when required rate or there were need of quick runs he was sending other to play big shots.

All Pant is doing is throwing his bat around and he has been lucky sometimes and sometime it has not paid off.

 

He showed the intent but he does not have game for it, He can only open to be effective where mishits will carry to the boundary but as fields opens-up then his mishits goes to fielder directly.

He does not have power shots in offside.

Pant is good in ODI ( where he can take his time in the middle overs and also can score due to 4 fielder restriction.)

 

But Pant is total misfit in T20s. Not a power player, nor a touch player. Just ugly hacks and mostly impactless contributions.

V.limited white-ball batter , had that 100 not came , his Odi records were not looking that good too.

Bowlers  ball off-stump line and then he play some power less shot in the air to give his wkt away.

 

How is Kolhi, Sharma,Pant/Gill and upgrade on  Dhawal, Sharma, Kolhi at top 3??

This entire batting lineup, except for Surya, is problematic. Many players are either unsuited for this format or past their prime. Meanwhile, the players who are well-suited for this format are being sent to Zimbabwes and Lankas, when we really need them here for the crucial World Cup. Indian cricket is a circus.

We've likes of Rinku, Jaiswal, Abhishek and Parag waiting in the wings but despite consistent performances somehow they're not picked

Pant is a problem, I tend to agree. Atleast him and his luck helped win against Pakistan.

Game sense is missing. He could have waited for spinners.  That was an uber casual shot on a two paced pitch. It caught the toe of the bat.

Not Samson. Pant is a much better keeper than Samson. You should've seen how Samson even struggled to collect deliveries in IPL. Plus Pant gives us a left-right combo. He was the best batsman in NY leg. It's just that he's trying to do too much which he doesn't need to. I would keep him in the team for the final.

Even after US leg he did fine against Afg with his quick 20 where he salvaged the powerplay and decent 24 ball 36 against BD.

But his approach from Aus game is concerning, he is trying to be very defensive in the start.

How is someone who is the second highest total runs scorer till before last match (and he is just 25 runs behind SKY now) and played crucial knocks on difficult US pitch a "complete failure"? Kohli is playing his FIFTH T20 and laying and an egg and this is the player you target?

 

And he is a wicket keeper bat and is playing the all rounder role

 

Complete disregard for the condition of the pitches, but but but he is a total failure you guys. He has wiped the floor with every keeper in the tournament.

 

People like you keep worshipping worthless stat padders but dont understand how small crucial knocks like his helps the team. You guys just know useless 50s which dont do anythign instead of knocks which keep the momentum going
