Should actually never compare the late 80s to late 90s with this generation. In those days there were 8-10 bonafide players who could win a grand slam on their day. Becker Edberg wilander lendl agassi chang courier sampras ivanosevic. Even michael stich, Kafelnikov, rafter, hewitt, krajicek, marat safin all had won grand slams during those times. On top of it in french open we had carlos moya and bruguera. In last 20 years it has been a 3 horse race with a bit of murray and wawrinka..

Who won in the ladies?

Some palakova from Russian countries. Women tennis quality is at lowest. Only one lady Iga is decent and maybe Coco Gauff but she doesn’t have the ruthlessness of Williams sisters or Sharapova

Safin, Hewitt, Roddick are not from 90s. They played in last 20 years.

No Indian talent in the horizon after Paes, Bhupathi?

Bopanna won a doubles slam recently didn't he? Indians cannot compete in today's stamina based tennis in singles. Paes smartly shifted to doubles for this reason.

The match was such an anti-climax. Djokovic never really got going. Alcaraz was ready from the start and he continued the march till the stutter when serving for the match. Djokovic winning that game didn't prove costly like it did in WIM 19 final. Alcaraz quickly gained his composure to seal the deal in straights. Alcaraz seems the next guy to dominate Wimbledon and the slams. Him and Sinner (if he steps up to the plate) have a budding rivalry.

Just want to point out to the people comparing 2003/04 Federer with 2023/24 Alcaraz that Federer was almost 22/23 years old in 2003/2004 while Alcaraz is 20/21.

You may want to compare the 2001 Federer who beat Sampras in R16 at age almost 20 but then lost to Tim Henman in QF with the Alcaraz of 2023.

Feds born in Aug so just shy of ages I mentioned. Alcaraz born in May.

Both of them will lose to Sampras of 93. Sampras is the real king of wimbledon. Becker who is another great player in fast grass had no chance of beating pistol pete.

Let's not pretend like Spanish players don't dope. There has been huge allegations against farca midgets and even the tennis players

Check fuentes's records.

Nadal is still my favourite due to work ethic but spanish athletes are pretty sus in general.

Pete Sampras in 1996 was comprehensively beaten by Richard Krajicek 75 76 64 in QF - then Krajicek had injuries. Pete could serve and volley, but with the equipment changing the balls started coming back "faster" and even Roger Federer could not play pure serve and volley at Wimbledon which he did beating Sampras in 2001.
