Typical "thoda sa adjust" "itna to chalta hai" attitude. This is not how it works.

I am probably easily 20 kgs heavier than the lady who was undefeated. She probably could kick my ass with 1 hand tied back on 1 leg. 100 gms on that context looks ridiculous but rules are rules. 100 agree :((

Did anyone see any "official" communication from the Olympics Committee that disqualified her? I only see comments from the Indian administration at the Olympics saying that she was 100 grams over. Surely, if they had a proper weighing machine, which they should have, they must have known that she was overweight by 100 gms before the weigh-in. Cutting more hair, potentially drawing some more blood could have got her there. In the match, she could have just conceded after starting a little and settled for silver. I suspect it wasn't really 100 grams, likely more.

What official communication they need to issue? They disqualified her and matter over.

its for us to figure out what went wrong.

She has her personal coach, nutritionist and her family with her there to support her.

Saina Nehwal said very bluntly that Vinesh has only herself to blame, that's not her first tournament.

Tough disagree with her on this.

can see hair likely worth more than 100 gm on her head in today's hospital pic with PT Usha.

Again, human body is not a machine that can maintain the weight at dot 50 kgs.

Or weigh down to 48 kgs while simultaneously getting good nutrition with energy levels. Very difficult for South Asian genes to maintain this.

This, I believe she was 50.250 kg atleast....150 gm over the tolerance limit.

There has got to be an official disqualification reason along with the actual reading.

why couldn’t we err on the other side, maybe try to keep her at 49 so there could have been 1 kg tolerance. Also if she can be 50 kgs + 100 gms, her south Asian genes could give enough leeway for her to be at 49 kgs and 900 gms. Having said that not her fault. Her focus is skill and training. All these technicalities is the coach, physio’s job and they will obviously need to be fired.

Sounds more likely the case, but I guess there needs to be some official communication on actual weight that was measured.

Bro there are many South Asian folks who compete in Weightlifting, Boxing, Wrestling and other weight  classified sports and go through weight cutting processes before every game.

May be her body is like that and I agree each body is different, but let's not blame it on genes or race.

We have to keep in mind she was not 100 grams more when she checked after fight. She was weighing 3 kgs more. They brought it down to 100 gram. That is a lot of weight loss you have to do in a day or two.

PRecisely my thoughts. Why do you want to take chance.

We may forget many of our medalists. But this is one story we will be telling our grandkids many years from now. At least I won't be able to forget how I felt in the aftermath of this announcement, froze for a few minutes in shock, felt so devastated.

Not sure. May be she wasn't comfortable with head shaved.

usually I would assume if you are competing in a certain weight class, you err on the lower side instead of the higher side. You don’t need to be an athlete to know gaining weight is easier than losing.

All athletes wants to play in lower category/lower weight class so they try to cut their weight under that  category, this is nothing new all do it.

If this was her first time going to this weight category then it would have been hard for herself and her trainers to fully understand how the body reacts and how easily and how fast that weight can be cut-down to thresholds, they would have done everything possible to get it down wight.

May be her body dint respond.

Also need to understand if the team has expience with her playing in 50 kg category, if they know how much she gains after the measurements and how much see can cut-down and how quickly.

Or is she playing too much under her natural weight category that the body simply goes to natural weight in just some time, its mostly water retaintion and food intake they can work on rest is natural.

Do nt belive in any conspiracy, it just hard luck.

Similar case for 100m sprint thompson missed gold by .005 seconds just happens.

She would be ranked last because of technicality, apart form this match all games were fair she was weighted under thresholds and this time she missed.

There is more to the story I feel. Shaving of hair for a gold medal Olympic shot, which athlete  wouldn’t do it?
