Oh god just checked, this is a 3 match series. Who plays Lankans for 3 tests these days.

Perhaps.  But Root couldn't put it beyond us. 

 

He's churning out big runs but he hasn't impacted a series in India or Australia yet in his long career 

.

 

And tp be frank, these are the 2 places where he needs to turn up the most.

Taking 20 wickets for 6 tests in such short time will take a toll on fast bowlers. WI and Sl have been great visitors for England.

When this series started people were upbeat with the possibility of quality test cricket. Reality is SL don't have the quality to compete in Eng.

It seems this time Eng are desperate to reach the WTC Final by hook or crook.  Playing 3 tests against Windies at home & then immediately 3 tests against SL at home.

The only reason I follow SL is to see whether Kamindu Mendis scored a 100. He and Wellage are the two players they should build their team around. Wish Wellage could've been in England instead of playing the crappy CPL.

Saw the highlights ... literally Root beating them black/blue. Uninteresting test match this one was.

If it was India beating hapless SL and Wi at home for 6 tests, people would be mocking India and its players for stat padding.

 

But in England it is being hailed as great summer.

Mostly on flat pitches, avg sub 30 here after Chennai 2021 first test.
