Naah, Neeraj didn't choke. He's one of the most consistent athletes ever. The guy always shows up and throws for around 88-90m nearly every time, and that's his ceiling. He has won Gold in Olympics, Asian, World Championships and silver this time round.

 

I've huge respect for Arshad Nadeem for making that 92m throw. He won the event than Neeraj choking. Choking would've been had Nadeem thrown for 87m and Neeraj couldn't get past him. Nadeem had once in a lifetime performance and hats off to him for that. But that doesn't tarnish Neeraj's accomplishments, his consistency and what he has done over the years.

 

All of us would've enjoyed another Gold from Neeraj but expecting him to throw 92m+ is not realistic and he didn't choke. I'm happy with his performances and wish we had more athletes and cricketers like him who show up every single time. If our top order had performed like Neeraj and the same level of consistency when it really mattered, we would've easily won 3 more ICC tourneys over the last decade.

India's top 3 boards in men's: Gukesh, Pragg, Arjun....incredible to watch, the world's envy. This generation can match peak USSR of old. India has maximum number of players in the top 100, top 50, top 10.

Btw coming to chess, Ravichandran Ashwin has bought American Gambits in the Global Chess League. Team to be led by Hikaru Nakamura (icon player). Also has Duda, Artemiev among others. 

 

Carlsen, Anand, MVL, Nepo, Giri are other icon players. 

 

Har jagah leagues, Hockey India League too set to be revived, to start from December this year.

Indian market is so huge, can run successful leagues in many sports, despite our poor sports culture. Cricket, kabaddi leagues are top notch, football has interest but low quality. Hockey, badminton, wrestling, chess, tremendous potential. 

 

Can't wait for HIL. Was a big fan of PHL when I was in school.

Pak is in good form, best they have played since circa 2018. Our team isn't close to full strength, many deadweights, and the intensity was missing except 4th quarter.

For those upset with Neeraj's Paris silver, the lad finished second (1 cm behind winner) in Diamond League Final with a fracture in his left hand.

Neeraj Chopra really is built different

He fractured the 4th metacarpal in his left hand 5 days before the #DLFinal and still competed, missing the win by a mere 0.01m.
