He is good, but real test will come up when the opposition will read his bowling style and plan for him.

Kuldeep & Chahal also did the same when they started, but got found out eventually.

 

 

 

 

He is basically left arm graeme swann .. he is not like kuldeep or chahal who will be found out....

 

He gets drift, as he put lots of revolutions on the bowl and ofcourse spins the bowl ... he has the goods to be successful on all kinds of pitches

Its better to develop wrist-spinners for white-ball be it t20is or Odis.

 

Finger spinners have to be able to bat. But no issue of playing him here and there in white-ball just to have updated with white-ball cricket.

Akeel is specialist t20 bowler he bowl as attacking PP bowler and he can hit some 4/6 down the order

 

Maharaj was not the 1st pick and SA does not have other options, he was not picked in white-ball till they had shamzi.

Yes but now Maharaj is Frontline spinner For them in ODIs... Heck he was playing T20 WC final vs India

Among the Indian tests spinners who have taken 20 wickets or more Suthar has the best strike rate. It might go up in the future. So far good promise.

Remember Axar Patel when he started??

 

Suthar is in the Honeymoon period right now..we will see when he is 20 tests old or 40 tests old.

 

Good promise, but I wont raise my expectations too much yet. I am still happy we found him.

Axar patel played probably one of the top worst turning tracks.  That included a pink ball test as well where ROot claimed 5 for 8. Suthar played on a reasonably decent surfaces. Also there is no SG ball in Srilanka. It is kookaburra. It showed in the very second series. It is an anamoly.

Having said that, I still think Sai Kishore has better skills.

They are completely different bowlers. Axar is round arm and doesn't get the turn and overspin necessary .

 

Suthar has a much higher ceiling as a spinner.

Wrist spinners ae going to be more effective on flat pitches.Kuldeep was missed in this test.
