My commiserations Punjab. Ponting couldn't even make a difference to Shaw and derailed him to such an extent that he couldn't even get into the  IPL team. He's unlikely to perform miracles and turn things around with Punjab when he couldn't even help someone like Prithvi Shaw.

 

Instead they could've taken a punt on someone like Bharat Arun. See if he could do with Punjab what he did with Indian pacers. At least he has a better pedigree as coach and delivering results than Ponting.

Shaw has himself to blame. Ponting did make them qualify thrice, thats no mean feat

In 7 years Ponting couldn't do much other than finish in the top 4 (out of 8 teams) 3 times. That's nothing much to write home about. And he couldn't get Shaw right. At the end of the day that's pretty poor performance overall from Ponting and what Punjab saw in him or his performance is a mystery.

You are talking about Delhi. They only qualified once before Ponting joined despite having all the superstars. Ponting worked with much lesser players.

 

No one can get Shaw right one. Kambli like gone case. Guys like FMCG, Stubbs, even Axar have improved their batting under him.

Still hasn't done anywhere enough to deserve the role. Somebody like Bharat Arun should've been tried. Ponting was involved with Delhi for 7 years and they remained in the bottom half of the league more or less similar to how they were before Ponting.

Bharat Arun is with KKR I guess as bowling coach
