putrevus Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I did not think we will ever be seeing visiting team's fast bowlers outbowling Indian fast bowlers like they used in 70s ,80s and 90s . So far in this series , NZ fast bowlers have outbowled Indian fast bowlers. What will happen once they are in Australia without spinners sharing their work load. Gollum 1
adi B Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I sense a drubbing as well unless we play with 4 Pacers In each match and rotate the bowlers carefully except maybe Sydney . One spinner is enough ,primarily Kuldeep Yadav (He's got to Improve his batting though) . We should put a bit of Responsibility and trust on Nitish Reddy . Gotta try Mayank ,Harshit in Australia . express bowling 1
adi B Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Another problem is Rohit's defensive minded and timid captaincy ! Australia can runaway with the game in a session or 2 and Rohit's leadership is one that allows it to happen Gollum, putrevus, express bowling and 1 other 4
ravishingravi Posted October 24, 2024 Author Posted October 24, 2024 People forget that we had the greatest Indian test captain Rahane who also made an insanely great 100 when India were down in the series.
singhvivek141 Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Whatever the result happens, I would like see the emergence of future Indian Test players from this series. Last BGT stamped the authority of Pant as an all time keeper for tests, Siraj rose as one of our frontline bowler, Shardul became an allrounder and we good young players in Gill and Washy. England Test series gave us Jaiswal, Sarfaraz, Akashdeep and Jurel. I'm expecting emergence of atleast one fast bowler who can take away the gap we may see post retirement of ageing Shami. tweaker, Gollum, express bowling and 1 other 4

For every Pant you will have 10 Shaws.Where is Siraj now, he was not that great then either plus we have KL rahul types of teases. singhvivek141 1

Still on the 4 pacer bandwagon bhai? Atleast in 2021...we had 4 pacers. Right now we don't have 3 reliable pacers (newbies unknown). Both Aussie series wins would NOT have been possible if spinners didn't do the grunt over and go for 1-2 rpo. Check the scorecards. Adelaide 2018 Melbourne 2018 Melbourne 2020 Gabba 2021 (this I am not too sure but the rest I am sure) 4 pacers would have given us GHANTA wins. tapandrun Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 (edited) Aus also has same situation as Ind. Their big 3 bowler are not that good anymore, their batting is also struggling. Aus lost a test match to WI, Pak came close to sealing 1/2 matches in Aus. Right nw it looks like who ever plays less worse would win, the concerns with ind is their batting gill, kolhi and rohit and in exp Jaiswal. Plus Ind does not have any fast bowler apart from bhumrah. both team have problems of their own right now. Edited October 25, 2024 by tapandrun singhvivek141 1

I think NZ pacers outbowled our pacers in 2021 Kanpur test as well. In H2H contests NZ pacers blow ours out of the water, main reason why we have never ending struggles against them in last 5 years across formats. NZ 2020 series, WTC 21 F, were played on green tops and we know the result. Number 1

Gollum Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Starc is finished, Hazlewood has declined. Lyon is 36, play him well and we have a decent chance. Aus batting though is pretty good...even though Smith has declined, they have Labu, Head, Carey, Marsh and even buddha Khawaja is among the runs. Green a big miss but that will be counterbalanced by Shami's absence. express bowling and tweaker 2
Gollum Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Our biggest hindrance will be Rohit's captaincy (and batting). One dimensional, monotonous, timid (under pressure) captains never work in Aus. Rahane has to be brought back in some capacity, maybe as mentor, consultant or assistant coach. Heck even as a batsman he will give better returns than some of our mainstays. Gollum Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Kohli, Shastri, Arun had vision, patience and cojones to develop fast bowling culture/system. We benefitted from it greatly in previous 2 tours. Rohit, Dravid have taken us backwards in that regard.....Rohit has no idea about how to manage fast bowlers, apart from his nonsensical field set. That 8 overs spell to Bumrah (full tilt) on Sunday tells us everything we need to know, that kind of lunacy can be career ending for a fast bowler. sensible-indian and express bowling 1 1
Number Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 (edited) The series hinges on Siraj, Rohit and Kohli's form. Hopeful that Yashaswi, Sarfu, Pant, Bumrah will do well there. Akashdeep/Shami and Jadeja/Ashwin will contribute from their side too. Keeping expectations low from Gill. If Siraj, Rohit and Kohli can step up and contribute in the games where we're in winnable positions then we can win otherwise it is just that we are carrying too much deadwood. I have a feeling Aus will blood a new fast bowler this series..... they could pull a totally new one from the reserves. Lance Morris (he is fast), Jhye Richardson(he can swing it at 140 ks and is better at the longer format), Spencer Johnson (left arm fast) - all three are playing today first time after injury. Morris and Richardson for Western Aus and Johnson for South Aus. I think one of these 3 will be the fourth pace bowler at Perth. tweaker, tapandrun and Gollum 3
devisreeprasadmahesh Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Trust me this Indian batting lineup is a template 100 all out side. Batting collapses have been quite frequent in the past few years. It has been always been covered up with some tail /lower order batting. This indian batting set up will suffer an altime embarrassing drubbing in Australia this time. Lack of quality test batesmanship is hurting India badly for sometime now. Time to rethink.

But surely a pacer can survive a rare 8 over spell...

sensible-indian Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Last test I mentioned 0-5 was not outside the realm of possibility. Looks like we should be saying AVOIDING 0-5 is not outside the realm of possibility.
