Also where would you play Paddikal now that Rohit is back? Rohit is going to be playing in the middle order most likely so a straight swap for Jurel. This is what happens when you have a guy who plays only on captaincy quota.
Sandz Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 (edited) If Rohit bats in the middle then watch KL get out for a duck, and if he doesn’t , well a duck is guaranteed either way. Edited November 28, 2024 by Sandz

vvvslaxman Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Did well. watched for a while. His crease bound defense is alright in subcontinent conditions. But this is going to be an issue in SENA especially in helpful conditions. Both Sai and DDP have some level of weakness. DDP is serviceable in these conditions given his recent form.

DDP apparently used his long reach to smother spin. He may be a dud vs pace... But let's see if it works vs spin in Lanka Manucrick 1

This can land him in trouble if viswa gets his length right and he gets some swing. That is the way he plays. He justkeeps bat, pad everything in li ne and defends from the crease. He may not get leg before or bowled. But a good slip catch candidate.

We need a aggressive batsman in this series padikkal can be that but yes i don't trust him in nz sai to

But with hint of seam movement and conditions he will be totally exposed. I am not sure he can leave the ball as well. T20 instincts will kick in

Their bowlers lose the plot once attacked. Our players don't have much defensive technique to begin with most can't rotate strike either. Best bet is to score boundaries early on and disturb their lengths and rhythm. Even Pakistanis and England have relied on attacking Prabath Jaysuriya in SL with great success Edited August 8 by Lone Wolf Vk1 and Manucrick 2

putrevus Posted August 12 Posted August 12 Travis head does not have any footwork, neither did Mathew Hayden. Temperament and ability to execute strokes under pressure is more important than technique and footwork. Padikkal has improved himself a lot, let him fail before throwing him out.He cannot be worse than guys like Jurel and Sundar. Manucrick 1

He is quick to judge the length as well. Balls just fly away then he hits them. Hayden had solid reach, and he had footwork, specially against spin. His resurgence happened in India in 2001.
tapandrun Posted August 13 Posted August 13 His best format is 50-overs, they can not give him chances there so they are playing him tests. They did samething with patidar, t20 was his format but they tried him Oids and test. Sarfaz got same test matches and then was left out, yes he may not be v.good vs pace but give him chance to fail. Its how they deal with external media/fan pressure, just do a random selection , like nabi was selected to A sides .Karun was selected with no plans.

The same Travis Head look very average in 2018.Let us see how this guy does before throwing him out.He is replacing Sai who is crap to begin with , so is India missing anyone good.

Agreed. He has piled on the runs in dominating fashion in domestic red ball and (like SNK) deserves a chance. Whether or not he will succeed, who knows?
