Ultimate_Game Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 This is the legacy of the so called fake King. As the title says, someone like Shardul Thakur has helped us win 2 away Tests - Gabba 2021 and Headingley 2021. Everyone knows how Thakur and Sundar turned the Gabba Test around with their batting and Shardul also picked up 7 wkts. At Headingley India was tottering at 120/7 and a quickfire 50 from Shardul helped India get to 190+. And in the 2nd innings he scored 60. Plus he took 2 crucial wkts in the 2nd innings to help India win the match. These two are probably the best wins by India away in our history. I'm yet to see the so called "King" make an impact and help us win even a solitary match away. All he has done is score on roads which we either lost or draw, or scored like he did at Perth when the score was effectively 300/2. He has never scored tough runs. Forget Travis Head or Steve Smith, Kohli hasn't even matched Shardul Thakur's performances in away Tests. I ask again - what's the point of such a "King"? We may as well pick another bowler. They'll score the same (probably more) and pick wkts. And now wait for the "King" to score a useless 30, 40 or a 50 when the match's done to stat pad and you'll have fans like @putrevus claiming "King is back!" I pity Bumrah whose entire career was wasted by likes of Kohli and Rohit. If he had gotten support the same way his Aussie counterparts did from Travis Head or Steve Smith earlier, he would've won more titles and series than likes of Cummins and Starc. wanted_desi Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 India will do well when they move away from the names. There are so many impactful players around to take the positions of these fake superstars. Ultimate_Game 1

And yet he's some sort of "King" as if he was winning us away series and tourneys. It was likes of Shardul, Sundar, Pant, Mayank Aggarwal who won us Away Tests on the back of Bumrah and our bowling. Fake King has done absolutely nothing. He has been only good at stat padding and scoring in useless & meaningless bi-lateral LOIs. Never showed up in Away Tests and failed in ICC knockouts. deepdynamo Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Kohli has become greater than the game in India. You can only wait till he hangs his boot. 5 year prolonged slump is unheard of. By the end of it all, Kohli is just a statpadder.

And even before that he didn't make an impact in Away Tests. Kohli was a mediocre batsman with 4-5 year purple patch. But even in that purple patch he couldn't make a difference in either LOIs or in Away tests. Absolutely useless and the moniker "King" is more of a joke and should be reserved for someone like Viv Richards. If Kohli is "King", Travis Head is Emperor. nevada Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 Shardul also did well in a game in SA that we ended up losing. We need players like him who step up their game when the going gets tough. rollingstoned, BacktoCricaddict and Ultimate_Game 1 2

His best performances have come when the team needed them the most rather than filling his boots with cheap runs/wkts. rollingstoned, nevada and sorak 1 2

Jadeja and Pant scored 100 runs in that 5th test where Kohli failed in both innings. India could have batted England out of the game if he had stepped up atleast in one innings. Innings 1 Well left bowled lol Innings 2 Stokes bounced him out. rollingstoned and cricspirit 2

Not even one impactful innings when he had the chance, and he has had numerous chances. When someone like Travis Head has outperformed you and made you their b***h, you know you're shyte. It's only Kohli fanboys like @putrevus who think Kohli is god's gift to cricket but anyone with half-decent knowledge of the game can see how useless the so called "King" is. Has failed in ICC knockouts, failed consistently in Away Testa & WTC finals, and even failed in IPL playoffs where his performances are same level as Mandeep Singh rollingstoned 1

Ultimate_Game Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 There goes "King" Kohli who couldn't even match up to Shardul Thakur. I wish we had players like Thakur instead of the fake king. At least he would've fought of the team. nevada and rollingstoned 2

I assume you mean the past thakur

He shows up at intl level. His intl performances have always been better than his domestic ones. He wouldn't go down without a fight when playing for India unlike our two seniors.

Will we see the return of 2020-22 Thakur? If so, he can be considered for selection. I wasn't aware he had undergone this surgery.
