this has been exacerbated by Kohli during his captaincy.. and now this extra baggage of stuff and people who are essential to the them as per their superstar mentality is what is holding BCCI hostage to pay for this. Its the double standards where Kolhi and Rohit can get away with this and BCCI is powerless despite it destroying team cohesion. Rohit PR in full mode showing him coming to Wankhede for practice.. comes in a Lamborghini and a suja hua face as if his family is held on gunpoint and forced to come to practice

This madness has to stop or otherwise pack up international cricket and focus on IPL only as a country then no one would care what players do with the money given to them by IPL owners for playing pyjama cricket

Shastri made an exception for Kohli when he wasn't even captain or the behemoth brand he is now in 2014 Aus tour. It has started from there.

We were winning with finer and finer margins at home too. People are kidding thenselves if they think this wasn't coming.

Youngsters Jaiswal, Jurel, Sarfraz saved us against England. Can also add Kuldeep, who might be 30 but played so few tests.

Remove just Jaiswal and Jurel from that team, replace with Kela/Kohli and we lose that series 1-4.

Yup. The simplest solution is to drop Kohli and Rohit. But BCCI and selectors don't have the balls to do so and are doing all sorts of mental gymnastics to come up with a "solution"

No one was this big even during the effigy burning days. Lol. And saching was a literal demi God back then who even gave up captiancy willingly. I can't ever imagine that happening now.

It started from the 2021 Eng home series. That one, the Aussie one on 2023 and even the England series last yr all had the potential to go pear shaped like the Nzl series. Even the Bang series we were in a precarious position in the first test and Ashwin and Jadeja had to save us.

Also barely won the Mirpur test in '22, biggest humiliation in Indian cricket history averted.

5-6 years ago we would have stomped those same Toygers like bugs.

That is one reason I respect Tendulkar a lot. You can call him selfish, stat padder, someone who stayed on for too long, or whatever you want but he did the right thing and gave up captaincy himself. Not only that, he backed Dhoni to be the future captain. If Tendulkar wanted he could've been the captain forever but he did what was best for Indian cricket.

Can you imagine Rohit or Kohli doing the same, and relinquishing captaincy in favor of a youngster like Jaiswal? These two would make sure the youngster's career is finished and will do everything at their disposal to hang on. And I don't see them playing under the captaincy of a youngster. So much for being team players.

yes basically being saved by Ash,Jadeja,Axar etc. Once that didn't happen we had nowhere to go.

Jurel saved the blushes against Eng earlier last year. Seniors came back for NZ series and we crapped royally.

Spot on! If we had replaced Kohli by Jurel and added Axar in place of a pacer, we would've beaten NZ the same way we beat England.

Bottom line is that if we had kicked out Rohit and Kohli after the WT20, we would be in a much better shape, and probably wouldn't have lost BGT to Aus either.

Just drop the leeches you idiots

Exactly, set example by dropping these two seniors and all juniors will fall in line. The example you are setting is that if you are a brand you become untouchable regardless of performances. So of course they will try to copy that instead of following rules.

no sachin didnt not give up captaincy on a happy note for some youngster but he thought that he was being humiliated by bcci that's why he left.

it was same as was with kolhi, he thought apart from him no one is scoring the runs and then bcci gave him spinner when he wanted a pacer.

bcci thought he is getting bigger than the game, or were insecure that sachin will be come imran khan kind of personality where he was the captain, the team , the selector, the board.

Nope, Sachin gave up captaincy the first time because he had zero control or inputs in the team. For example during the WI tour he specifically asked for a spinner to help in pacer workload and was denied. Then pacers broke down in between

Similarly batting order decided was changed last minute while he was playing at the crease, many time azhar simply over ruled sachins batting order

There were pics in magazine calling this out and one famous pic jad Sachin in selectors meeting sitting facing opposite direction with an angry face while the selectors deciding among themselves. Below are quotes

The first incident occured during the meeting of the selectors to pick the team for the South Africa tour. Tendulkar, who was part of that meeting, made certain suggestions, some recommendations, asked for a couple of players who he thought would be useful on that tour (interestingly, one of the names Tendulkar suggested was that of none other than Abey Kuruvilla).

The selectors ignored his recommendations completely, and went ahead with their own choices. At which, in the middle of the meeting, Tendulkar burst out: "If you don't want to listen to me, then why call me for the meeting? This is a farce!"

Much to the embarassment of the selection committee, the incident was leaked to the media - not by either Tendulkar or Madan Lal, but by a BCCI official with a grudge against one of the selectors.

Till this point in time, Tendulkar had been pretty much the blue-eyed boy of the selectors and BCCI officials. Polite, respectful, calling everyone and his uncle 'Sir' and most importantly, never uttering in public any word critical of the teams selected by the committee for various tournaments. And then this.

A short while thereafter, Tendulkar went on to blot his copybook even further, when the team to tour the Caribbean was announced. At the post-selection press meet, the Indian skipper went out of his way to inform the media that he had asked for at least 17 players, preferably 18, in order to give himself more options through a long and potentially arduous tour and, further, that he had specifically requested the selection committee to provide him with an off-spinner, given that the West Indies lineup was composed predominantly of left-handers.

In both instances, the upshot was that the national selectors were seriously embarassed.

And so, first chance they got, they appear to be paying Tendulkar back in the same coin. By stating publicly that his captaincy is under review, the selectors are aiming to bring pressure on the Indian skipper, to tell him that talking out of turn does not pay, that crossing the selection committee pays even less...

And to put the lid on it, BCCI officials speaking under conditions of anonymity have told a Bombay-based tabloid this morning that there is a probability of Mohammad Azharuddin being asked to take back the reins of captaincy.

Frankly, I haven't heard anything as stupid even from this bunch of... no, not "jokers", that is Mohinder Amarnath's epithet... erudite gentlemen, let's say. I mean, less than a month ago Azhar is dropped from the team for lack of form and commitment - and today, he is back in contention not just for a berth in the side but as captain? Come on, tell me the other one.

Also another example, Noel David was selected in the team without his knowledge. Sachin, on hearing the news asked “Noel who?” But he had to play him in the team.

He was a puppet captain and was then being blamed for the losses as well. So he resigned. Second time he realized he was not being a great captain and politics was also affecting his captaincy so he resigned

Tendulkar was left aghast after the St Vincent one-dayer which India snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Chasing 250, India were once placed comfortably at 201 for 3 but managed to get themselves bowled out for 231. It was later reported that the batsmen, including the seasoned Azharuddin, refused to go by the captain's advice.

But the shock was still waiting to happen. India's next bilateral engagement was with Sri Lanka in 1997 end and after the three test matches were drawn 0-0, the team went to play a four-side tournament in Sharjah where it lost all three matches. But more than the losses, it was Azharuddin's pathetic run-out against the West Indies that had raised most eyebrows.

Even the commentators of that match were left in deep shock when Azhar ran himself out for four and India lost the match by 41 runs. The national selectors had summoned the man in a close door meeting and it was reported that he was reprimanded for the careless act on the ground.

You know what happened after the above? Sachin was removed from captaincy within a year and azhar made captain. That seems normal to you?

When he was offered a third time he refused and also suggested dhoni as a young captain.

Love how some people make up stories to besmerch a humble legend. Hey people are blaming my favorite now so let me make up stories about some other legends to prove Kohli is same as Sachin you guys.

Have no favourites , do not have a dog in this fight. Said the same thing in crux to the response that sachin left captaincy for any youngster. he never left captaincy for a youngster.

Sachin was nt offered captaincy, he was asked for suggestion that time think yuvi was the vice-captain, so there were prominent players yuvi and viru were front runners.

But both were struggling for form and sachin suggested dhoni's name dhoni was some1 who was in form too was getting some runs during that time.

Sachin mentioned once that he would like to lead the when these upcoming stars bhajji, yuvi, viru came into the team when gangully was captain but he was not like that he wanted captaincy badly.

The other time he was asked by chapell if he is interested in captaincy. when they were dropping gangully from the team.

But the key thing to note is that had Tendulkar craved captaincy, he could've thrown a tantrum and became a captain. He was pretty influential and if he really wanted to get the captaincy after Ganguly was done, he could've gotten the captaincy. But he wasn't keen on it as he understood it probably wasn't in India's best interests and knew his limitations as a captain.

Also, he was willing to play under a young player and a new captain in Dhoni, and he was absolutely fine doing that. He never threw a tantrum and no drama about playing under a "junior". Can you imagine Kohli or Rohit doing that? Kohli threw a tantrum when he was asked to step down as a T20 captain. And look at Rohit now who wants to continue to be the captain despite not good enough to be anywhere near the team. Can you imagine them playing under a young captain such as Jaiswal or Iyer the way Tendulkar did under Dhoni?

Rohit could've done the same thing which Tendulkar did and given his recommendations for a captain - say Jaiswal, Iyer or anyone else given he has played with so many youngsters. But he has said that will continue as a captain till selectors find a new captain. That's height of selfishness and shows the difference between Rohit/Kohli and Tendulkar.

Yes if he himself wanted he could have got the captaincy just after fixing scandal, gangully ouster as stop gap between dravid and dhoni (in place of kumble). He has been smart in the way, he was liked by his peers and jr. and he knew what else comes with the captaincy specially at the 3 juncture above. For him captaincy at the point is a deal where he had more to lose than gain.

He came through the era where only he was performing and ind team effective meant sachin + 10 other ppl to call and field a team. he remained grounded in and off the field.

Didnt try to create or be the part of controversy.

Yes was going to post same about new young captain, do not think a new young captain be it gill, jaiswal, pant would work with kolhi and rohit in the team.

Do not think any 3 of the above are good candidate in any case for different reason.

they removed pandaya from t20i captaincy for some reason , he was seen as too much invloved with bowler and field as if he was the captain that may have threaten sky's position or selection committee

Rohit may have said differently then how its is quoted regarding continuing captaincy till bcci selects new captains.
