This is exactly why the only coaches who can get these guys to pay attention are the superstar cricketers of yesteryear. None of these guys will listen to coaches who were just okay players but are great coaches. Gone are the days of a Gary Kirsten coaching up these players. These guys (and most public, too) just don't understand that many of these mediocre players were punching above their talent, and can identify holes in technique and correct them. They had to learn to focus on details because they were not naturally talented enough to succeed, and their knowledge can elevate the talented guys to greatness - if they listened. But in most cases, they're likey going "iska kya aukaat hai ki he is trying to teach me."

I'd argue the biggest issue with cricketers of this gen, post IPL or slightly later, is that they carry this "arrogance" around as sort of a pride! The SRT double at SCG was less about cover drives & more about limiting the risky strokes that got him out multiple(?) times that tour. As a batter, you need to limit your chances of getting out - that's it; that's your biggest challenge! Now admittedly with analytics it has gotten more difficult, so SRT, even if the pitch was super flat, probably cannot replicate that double now. The flip side to that is batters have T20 shots, and they can score much more quickly. Now it depends on you how you score runs, taking more risks or believing in yourself that you can stay at the wicket.

Not sure why these guys are not seeing it, he lost his place in T20is because of short-ball its was either he will be out or its a dot ball and a dot balls at the position he plays can cost team some runs and match, he can nt be part of test side because of his inability to handle short ball. The only format he can play is Odi and that to on not so bouncy wkts, and till the time some1 from t20i team transitions and takes that place too.

Most of his coaches would nothave played intnl or even state level cricket and still they were his coaches, its not required to have played 150 kmph to tell some1 how to play hook and pulls and its not that he has issue with high pace bouncer almost all the batter would have issue with high pace well directed bouncers but he has issue with bounce at any pace.

Now that he has become 27 crore richer he won't care if he doesn't get picked for national team.

he can oly keep his stocks high till he is in/nearlt-in Ind intnl side.  As soon as some1 take his place he will have no takers jst like kl.

when kl was projected as nxt ind captain every1 wanted him csk, lsg, rcb but now he is no where. even rohit current ind captain even after pulling all his pr can not garner much, teams know his time is up. mi did everything to get pandaya bcoz he was ind captain .

unless a bidding war, players value is dependent on their position and positioning in ind side

After he won the IPL his stock went through the roof. He was not playing for national team at that point. He is going to milk as much as possible in the next few years and retire peacefully doing baniyan ads.

By the time he retires he will have chatofied enough malai. Doesn't matter. He doesn't seem tk care much about a legacy in other formats otherwise he is at the kind of age where most of our batting issues would've been solved by him. Baki dance reels badmei bhi Banta rahega.

Not only cricket he is overly confident about his looks too, shytty faced incapable batter thinks he's more than capable to play as lead in MI series,Dhooms,Ocean 11s,The Witcher(s)etc

Bahut bada vala nasha karta hai ye

Yes that amount gets reduced by 50% regularly

He could've cemented a legacy and been much more and had just as much if not more money. Still can if he wants to. Under 30 batters are forced to get chances now in Indian team because likes of him haven't cemented their place. Chaprigiri means he will not achieve that, like Kishan. You can see the arrogance in this interview too.

Gary Kirsten was far better batsman that what Iyer saab can hope to become.

2.6+2.6+2.6+7+7+7+7+12.25+12.25+12.25+26.75 = so far 99.3 crores earnings from IPL for Shreyas Iyer.  That is more than Maxwell, ABDV, Shikar Dhawan, DK, Gauti earnings individually. He is only 76 crores short of highest ever MSD 176 crores. Why would he care if BCCI doesn't pick him.

Years of flogging in office and yet I am nowhere near that number.

Had I paid this much attention on cricket, I too would have been a crorepati.

As spin basher…even that is fraud. He sucks on turning pitches as well

Did he do well in SL in ODIs ?  I can't remember but I don't think so.

This is just the beginning - wait till the next generation. BCCI will have to give them a Pulp Fiction foot massage to even talk to them.

All I hear is that 140 knock vs NZ.

That too is because Kohli scored 110 something and Iyer outscored him.

He is entering into Kedar Jadhav territory, who too is mostly remembered for that 120 knock vs England in Pune.

I believe it will go in reverse...

The fan culture will decline, just like it's on a decline in Bollywood.

Kohli is the  last "superstar"...now we won't see that happening.

Rohit, KL are just SM superstars...nothing more.

His one noteworthy knock is the Bangladesh test knock where India was 74/7 and the semi final knock. I won't call him selfish like Kela, Kohli. But he has limitations which he cannot overcome with this attitude. He is purely marketable because of his off-field "skills" rather than on-field skills. Even in IPL his records are not stellar.
