Teams are backing themsleves to chase down scores upto 330. 350 are somewhat safer target. This was a top chase by pak batters yes SA was nt fielding their top-side but 350 is above par score. Pak were 3 down under 100 (nt exactly sure) and Rizwan and Salman were able to chase down the target without taking much risks and while batting it looked like thy were behind the game but they kept it simple and steady and not losing the wkts. What are your thoughts should team improve/strengthen on their bowling or bat deep that everyone should be able to bat ??? I understand you are making a larger point however I attribute paks win to rizwan the captain. He comes across as a fighter who never gives up, that's how team is playing under him and results are everyone to be seen.

Vk1 Posted February 13, 2025 Posted February 13, 2025 We chased 325 in 2002 against England in England. Pak chases 350 in 2025 against tier 2 SA team and they are celebrating it as a great win

If I want to watch a slogathon, I will stick to T20 cricket, thank you. Vk1 1

I don't rate their T20 and test sides much but they maybe onto something in ODI format. Missing Saim Ayub is a big blow for them though. Bobzy is the weak link in the line up. Batting is till no 8 and all their bowlers can slog.

So there was time around Odi wc in eng was nearing they started peaking in T20is and when there is t20i wc approaching they start peaking in Odis. Due to these close packed ICC event, teams try to try out their combinations and various player even using other formats to give the player chances, but pak has been same core for a long time now. Winning in Aus against their any kind of side is a big thing though the ODI series pak won was against Aus's development side. Same for SA, wing in SA for team from sc is big thing. Ayub looks like a good find for pak, good opener who can keep the tempo and also can contribute with the bat. Most of pak new batter looks like sloggers who can hit only leg-side. This does not work anymore against good teams it only works when batter has ability to clear any boundary against any kind of bowling. Edited February 13, 2025 by tapandrun

Yeah I was watching how deep they actually bat. Agha and Khushdil are literally bowling and adding depth to their side. Our middle overs bowling will be so crucial against them. Hardik will be key player as he always performs with the ball against them. I hope we go for High pace of Harshit rather than Shami against them & go for a short ball tactics. Dubai square boundaries are big. Karachi was barely 60-65m.

They beat a good Australia side in second ODI that had Cummins Starc etc. 1st ODI they bottled. SA always tough to beat at home in ODIs. We also won against a weaker unit last year 2-1. A year before that Magala lizaad etc made us lose 0-3. I won't trust our batting with Ro Ko and Kela in it. They might click but the probability of Pak batting clicking is round about same. Only edge we have is in our bowling. Their bowling is trash. rollingstoned 1

Yes SA has been using white-ball home series to try out new players, Ind is also sending development teams to SA now <-- Do not read much into those wins as long as you get some new talent or show ability to graduate from IPL to intnl level. But its still a big deal fr teams frm sc to win in SA. Yes 2nd odi Aus side was good and as said beating any Aus side in Aus is big thing, they still are quality. Think rauf won them the series. not undermining pak team's recent odi wins Yes would say out of kl, rohit and kolhi ind should count them as 2 batters and play as if they are going with 10 players, do not know which 2 or all 3 of these freezes Edited February 13, 2025 by tapandrun

Generally such totals are not chased regularly in icc tournaments, pressure makes a difference. That last game didn't even have dew yet the pitch played like a beauty and outfield was like a pool table. tapandrun 1

Lone Wolf Posted February 14, 2025 Posted February 14, 2025 Ben Sears ruled out so Nathan Smith will play now. Incredible depth in NZ pace stocks. This Bracewell owns Poyzz lol
