I don't like appeasement - of anybody For the longest time creative liberties have been taken over Hindu sentiments .....because people let it be. And sometimes to an extreme. Remember the MF Hussein painting episode na ? Would he dare to do it against a figurehead from his own faith ? People take Hindu tolerance for granted - all creative liberties come against Hindu astha and faith only. This is not acceptable. Not upset at all. You are one of my favs here. In fact, when I went to CCI I remembered to take pictures of the place for you. So that you can have some nostalgic memories. Have invites for the WPL finals ( we are one of the sponsors) and should I go, shall share some footage with you. I am irked by the fact that all of this is seen as some scheming plot by Muslims to put down Hindus/ Non muslims. It is entertainment. End of. Laugh it over. No movie has managed to offend me, no matter how caricature-esque the portrayal of Muslims. case in point Andaz Apna Apna. Amir and Salman dress as nawabs and talk funny. I laughed at it. Many would find it offensive. I can watch that movie a 100 times and laugh. New guy, Lord and rangeelaraja 1 2

So I am going to generalize and comment on people. It is an undeniable reality that Hindus are far more tolerant than Muslims. Besides, movies are made for the masses ( most of whom are Hindus) and jokes/content on their mythology is easier to grasp. If there were jokes on Muslim theology, first there would have to exposition to explain background etc. The same logic behind ads using stereotypes. You needn't spend time and money on explaining stuff. I actually said the same as well. Movies and their representation and dialogues will always be dominated by majority. Finding ulterior motives is clutching the straws as best. Stereotypes will always be there. Bollywood since the beginning has been dominated by Punjabi Khatris & will remain so for time being. A movie made on Muslims and Urdu scriptures dialogues would tank in any era... Unless it is Ali baba and 40 chor type classic based on Arabian myths. Mariyam 1

Actually, no stereotypes won't always be there, as society grows and evolves we actually become more understanding and inclusive. We are in a connected age and not like before where people didn't know anyone outside their small town. You can see how stereo have become lesser and not only in Hollywood but bollywood too and there are more people calling it out. Of course whenever right wingers come to power they destroy any progress humanity makes and drag human culture and unity backwards. Respecting others is too "woke" for them.

Stereotypes are still prevalent in Hollywood. India and subcontinent is usually shown as poor imporvished and in Sepia toned theme (weirdly). Indians are shown as dark skinned South Indians with their different accent coz of that early IT migration of South Indians in 70's. Now it is a common stereotype. The snake charmer image might get promoted further with US far Right on a online Jihad against Indians.

So when a comic like Munwar Faooqui makes fun of Ram-Sita, Godhra kaand (where Hindus were burnt alive), we are supposed to laugh it off and move on? Only Dhongi Babas are Dhongi. Not about getting offended, but the those phrases are so normalized that exposing their Hypocrisy is also intolerable these days.

Obstructing the field has many scenarios not just changing the direction of running, Inzi once used the bat to defend a throw at the stumps was dismissed for obstructing the field. Inzi was out coz he was out of the crease and if ball had hit the stumps he would've been run out. That's literally the definition of "obstructing the field". In Kohli's case he was past the crease and there was no way he could've been run out. But I would still want him and other Indian players not to do so. Let fielding team field the ball and stop overthrows. It's not a batter's job to do so. Picking up a stationary ball and handing it back to a fielder is one thing but to stop a ball which is still in motion is a different case entirely. Don't do anything till the ball is dead. Gollum Posted February 25, 2025 Posted February 25, 2025 What Kohli did was dumb but no grounds to give him out. He was in no danger of being run out (like that Inzi dismissal in 2006, or Stokes vs Starc in an ODI). tapandrun, Ultimate_Game and Lord 3
