Harbhajan Singh slashed for 'vile, disgusting' racist remark comparing Jofra Archer to 'kaali taxi': 'Ban him from IPL'

The incident happened during the 18th over of the first innings, when Archer was bowling to SRH batters Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen. Harbhajan's controversial comment came after the South Africa international smashed consecutive boundaries against Archer on the second and third ball of the over.

 

 

 

“London me kaali taxi ka meter tez bhaagta hai, Aur yaha pe Archer sahab ka meter bhi tez bhaaga hai (Like the meter of London’s black taxis, Archer’s meter has also been on the higher side),” Harbhajan quipped on air. The on-air remark left fans fuming on social media, and they called for his immediate suspension from the IPL 2025 commentary panel.

When will Harbhajan grow up. Being a commentator there are certain topics he should be more hesitant about because if what he is saying doesn't land properly it will be misconstrued as racist.

 

Everytime he says something stupid Sachin is needlessly dragged into it because of his support during the monkeygate scandal.

Depends on context. Looks like Harbhajan was comparing Archer to a Limousine (kaali Taxi). Not a big fan of Harbhajan and he's a brainless chap who opens his mouth too much, but in this case the context and meaning doesn't seem racist. Just because the word "kaala" or "kaali" is used, doesn't make it racist. IMO "kaali Taxi" would be the closest description to Limousine in hindi. If someone thinks this is racist, you may as well ban the word "kaala" altogether.

Hindi commentary is forgettable.that is a known fact.  That being said don't think it had racist undertones.

Arey bhai ye angrez maa behen ki gaali dete rehtey hai and calling a black is black not a big deal agar usey Gora bola hota than it was a racism.
