How are they paying for 40 5th gen aircrafts?

pocket change for china to keep India occupied without having risk chinese lives.

Pak military for all its issues has a better acquissition track record unlike Indian military which keeps evealuating platforms. Its almost going to be 2 decades since we started the MMRCA acquisition plans, is almost laughable what we have done with it.

Not many apparently  only 15-20 Su57 are operational.. Advanced version Su57M is just inducted this year in 2025.

We need to push for Joint Production in HAL facility in Nashik.  Easily Doable .. will help in manufacturing our own 5th gen techn... Training crews and pilots etc.

The biggest flaw with the su57 is the engine. Unless russians integrate their product 30 engine it remains a no go.

Blunt truth. India only option within next 2 to 3 years is to bring hal tejas 1a to replace/augment mig 29 (mig 29 has performed well for india). Tejas 1a is a much better bird than mig 29. Produce 30 a year.

Procure more rafale. Buy off shelf 120.

Continue mki upgrades with desi radar to better detect stealth aircraft.

Make astra mk3 a success to integrate with likes of su30mki tejas mig 29. And/or supplement with local production r37m missile.

To overcome weakness in jets invest in ground offensive with pinaka mk3 300km and mach 8 1500km brahmos 2. Make use of navy rafale to stretch pakistan from kashmir to karachi.

Long term: focus on tejas mk2 and see what options on 6th gen. India has missed boat on 5th gen. By 2030 india should have 200 odd rafale 300 mki and 200 odd tejas with 100 remnant mirage and mig 29. The country should be part of a grouping of france germany or uk japan italy for gen 6 aircraft. See what russians do with su57. Buy only if combat proven.
