My point was that if India needed 5 bowlers ( Bumrah, Siraj, Prasidh, Jadeja and one other), then it is better to pick a proper wicket taker than a mediocre medium pacer who will may pick up the odd expensive wicket but go for plenty of runs vs this strong England batting lineup who feast on trundlers every day in these conditions.

Not sure what is management's affection with Reddy. Does he deserve a place in a test side? I can understand Shardul. He has played some good games with both ball and bat. Also, I think leaving Sarfaraz out is not that bad of a decision. I am not sure he would succeed in Eng. Also, he pissed the management off by allegedly leaking the dressing room conversation during BGT. Players these days can't mess with the management.

This guy has been getting stiffed by selectors and TM. There was no need for Jurel in the squad, Sarfraz can keep in emergencies and also KL Rahul was there.

 

They played Jurel in a test in Australia when this guy was there .

Thakur plays in SENA countries so to take his form in India and judge him on that is not fair.

Everything went well for Reddy last year.Let us see what he can do this year.His bowling is utter tripe.

 

I disagree on Sarfraz, he has not been given chance to prove himself.Getting discarded on basis of just whim is ridiculous.

 

KL rahul has played 58 fricking tests and has avg of 33. Sarfraz in his sleep would do better than those numbers.

you need a proper backup keeper especially in a 5 match test series.

No you don't need any backup? Rahul played whole test series in SA as a WK.Once he scored as WK some runs there he becomes opener again.

 

If there is an injury to Pant, Jurel can always be called up.

A guy like Rohit chose to open to get into the test side. If Sarfaraz can open, he can compete for spot in the top order. KL got in for that option. Gill. Karun, Pant, Jurel, NKR, Sai, are all TO/MO bats. Sarfaraz is unlucky to have lost to this MO team.  More than KL. Karun Nair selection affected Sarfaraz more

If Wash is batting better than Jadeja , I'd pick him to bat at 7 and then pick 4 quicks (excluding Thakur).

 

But they don't have a squad to maintain that combination over 5 Tests

you know they can replace an injured keeper with another keeper right? he just cant bat or bowl.if Pant gets injured day 1 in a match then its Rahul the rest of the game as the keeper if we dont have Jurel in the squad.
