And then there was Prithvi Shaw

If not as an opener he might have a chance as a lower middle order batsman. Stranger things have happened. You need more than Just talent to play for India, the right break at the right time is arguably more important.

Tough crowd. As a teacher, I refuse to off-hand dismiss any young person.

As a teacher, you can ignore certain aspects of certain individuals. As a Cricket fan, i cannot. Prithvi Shaw turned into alcoholism, hooliganism, has been involved in road rages, So much for the 'rare' talent, cant keep himself to the ground. Yeah, i have had it enough.

Also, persistence, hard work and constant improvement are necessary. One can't rest on their laurels at that level - at least not until you reach "Senior" status.

I really hope that the pictures in this link are current, because if they are, it will be some of the best cricket news I’ve read in a while, outside of any India wins obviously.

Looks like blood’s lost weight. A lot

He looks crap in these photos, you can see eye bags, redness and swelling.

I am not seeing what you are seeing. Shaw is wearing loose fit clothing that hides his man boobs and belly. He looks like the least fit of the 4 men in the photo.

I don't think the infamous 36 A.O was the main culprit here. He had the talent to back him up, he had enough time to get back into the team over and over and over again. Discpline is where he lacks. Had he actually worked on himself and his skills, my money would have been that Virat would have been compared to this guy as in who is better, Virat or This nutbag. But he threw is all down the drain for some cheap party, cheap short term fame.

Just look at him, a professional athlete with a shreak's body ... Many already stated that he lacks work ethic and does nothing productive to improve upon. You may come and say but look at Rohit. Sure, I hear you but Rohit actually bothered to put in time to improve his game ... and let's be honest, he had the performance to back his position (not talking about expired Rohit, but when he was feared). Am sorry, he rightfully deserve the boot from the team

Call it harsh but Pritvhi has been all talk and no Shaw (sic).

He got caught up in the hype and tried to live the Chhapri Rapper life, while his batting and fitness went to the dogs.

:smokin:

I still hope he picks up from here and doesn't repeat his shenanigans.

Rohit was backed a lot. Shaw wasn't

TBF Rohit never did any of the shenanigans which Shaw did.

Indeed, Vada Pav is just a motormouth fueled by carbohydrates, sedate and mostly level headed.

Funny things have happened In ind cricket, but Shaw needs a lot of help here some backers are needed.

His game lacks a lot, he has v.limited legside game and seems like only a PP batter. Plus his out of field activities and behaviour is not helping him.

Yes it hard once you become controversies magnet it hard to get out of it, it either you get in to controversies or they come to you. No Ipl team would like that kind of image being associated to their team, hence if IPL teams are not interested in a layer its hard to get into Ind side.

The first thing he needs to do is to fix his game, iron out shortcomings and rather having big score against a poor bowling attack have big scores against good sides.

Then try to not attract any  controversies.

There is alot of competition now for him and but if he is smart about it he got time on his hand, the guys who are getting into Ind team rt. now are from his own batch and its not like Ind cricket has moved on from that batch which gives him 2-2.5 years to do so. But the kind of batters there are in the line specially at opening position in t20s are couple of level up from him

Forget team India, he could have made a living just playing the IPL, where the bar isn't too high. He couldn't do even that!

Backing a player who is interested and disciplined is more important than backing one whom some captains and coaches have criticised for his work ethics. Also, he has off the field issues. One can understand that a player is practicing but unable to score runs and should be backed but his case is totally different than other cricketers who are working hard.

Now he maybe but when Rohit was a youngster you didn't hear about any issues the way we do about Shaw. Rohit let himself go at the fag end of his career and Shaw started acting out before his career could even start off. That's the difference.

That was after he was dropped.

For 2 yrs after being dropped also he was making a lot of runs. You can check sm at that time. He was too good for domestic level but not considered ready to pay for India because of other issues. He probably lost some motivation after that.

No, he was dropped the first time coz he tested positive for banned substance...

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/faqs-on-terbutaline-the-drug-that-got-prithvi-shaw-suspended-1196427

And even if he was dropped there's no reason for the litany of things Shaw has done. Rohit wasn't guaranteed a start early on as well. Rohit made his debut in 2007 (WT20) and was dropped soon after. He wasn't part of the 2011 WC squad either. He was brought back in 2013 as opener and cemented his spot a couple of years later. But from 2007-2013 Rohit was on-off but you didn't hear any news about his ill-discipline or acting up.

Eventually, Shaw has to own up to his behavior and attitude.

I don't think he was as skilled as  he was made out to be.  Might have been excellent at the under 19 level.

But I have never seen a specialist batter miscue so many shots as he did.
