Also both 375 and 400 were in draws in a very small ground, pointless innings both. Very selfish innings especially the 400*.

 

Mulder should have gone for it or just declared when he got 300* which probably makes more sense rather than getting close and then declaring.

The 400 one, WI had already lost series 3 nil, so final match was just a statpad operation.

It's not like he declared on 399! He still had 30+ runs to score and probably didn't want the pressure and drama of batting for the record. If he continued batting and got out for 380 or 390, people would call him a choker who selfishly went for the record. So what he has done is perfectly fine.
