Speaking of comics - any Bahadur fans? I had a crush on Bela growing up. But that was before my imaginary teenage marriage with Steffi Graf ;-).

You misunderstood by what I meant as a recency bias.

The recent events get an undue coverage in our syllabus. The Mughals, War of Independence, British Rule etc have all happened in the last 500 years. There is more material on them than Ashoka who ruled more than 2000 years ago.

Its like how most people would say that MSD is a better batsman than Gavaskar. Oh wait, but he is a better batsman than Gavaskar.

Not true, we read more about Lodhis, Slave dynasty, Khilji, Tughlaq more than other regional kindoms which have florished in recent times. The history is too Delhi-centric without a recncy bias.

Stop trolling about Dhoni. His test stats are over-rated. Big PR after winning LOI WCs.

What impact do you foresee?

- Lesser appeasement politics

Indian Muslims getting more mainstreamed

The mindset of hum yahan hukmaran the.. goes away taking out the street veto power , there will be less resentment . I know it’s utopia, but may be 2047 , viksit will be different.

I feel very stupid. And young. The two are probably related.

Given that school primary drop out rates are the highest among Muslims (Re: Sachar report) do you thinking changing a few lines here or there in secondary school (grade 7/8/9) will have any meaningful impact?

This topic is given far too much importance.

Mainstreaming requires economic inclusion. And a will from Muslim (leadership) to be a part of the growth story that is India. History lessons in high school are simply a cosmetic change if you want to mainstream a community.

This will change the mindset of other kids not Muslims. Moghul and Islamic history is highly whitewashed.

This is something which is easier said than done.

I do blame the politicians of the past as well, who used Muslims as vote bank. But somewhere down the lane they have to pickup the common sense to understand who is with them and who dont.

They also need to understand first that there is no concept of Ummah...it's ultimately the country which matters. Saudi didnt do anything when Gaza, Syria & Lebanon was based. Qatar or Pakistan didnt do anything when Iran was bombed by US. Indian Muslims dont have any blood relations with Iranians or Turks or Uzbeks...it's the fellow Indians who are their family. Just because their religion is different, doesnt mean their value and belief should change as well.

Countries like Malaysia, Indonesia despite being Islamic countries have the connection to their roots. Thats they they have the feeling of patriotism towards their land. Indian Muslims dont want to connect them with the roots of Indian culture and want them to be seen as one of the "invaders", hence they simply dont have any emotional connect with India and its nationalistic feelings.

Your mindset has changed, hasn’t it? Inspite of learning the Congress sanctioned appeasing history, as you put it.
Made no difference to you as to what was taught in grade 7.

Once again, will this make any tangible difference?

The only 2 purposes for studying a redundant subject like 'History' is:

1) To learn from you past mistakes so that we don't commit it again coz history repeats.

2) To learn and take pride in the Culture, Heritage and Sacrifices of your Ancestors so that you can feel good about your identity.

Sadly, in a bonafide ancient civilizational state like India we do neither of those 2 things.

Instead we did a complete 180° by glorifying our invaders & looters, whitewashing their atrocities and removing all the local heroes who fought against them from the pages of our history books.

Not only that our Social studies curriculum hardly ever talked about our ancient cultural heritage in a positive light and is basically designed to make us look down upon our identities.

In my opinion all the lefty Distorians who did this should be jailed for this blatant treachery and intellectual fraud. :whack:

Reading in-depth about Ghurid and Aibak's advance post victory over Prithviraj.

Remnants of Chahamana clan was still in resistance in Ranthambore..

Jaichand leaving Kannauj in hope for a joint front to aid Chahmanas was a collosal mistake... Bro got intercepted at Chandwar as the intel got leaked by a Sufi Pir (apparently ) then that ill fated battle happened that eventually lead to the doom of North India.

Had he stayed in Kannauj bro could have turned the course of history.
