express bowling Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 I think Washington has more belief in his batting abilities than Jadeja. Is a much better hitter against genuine pacers too. But Jadeja is better at leaving the ball these days against pacers. Mosher and Lord 2
vvvslaxman Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 No need to compare guys. Both have fantastic temperament and defense. Washi probably have slightly better game against bouncer. Lord and The Dark Horse 2

Jadeja lacks the belief in his own ability and needs a nudge. SUndar is more attacking. Being tall also helps with hitting express bowling 1

cricspirit Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 For sure Sundar looks to have better technique. Also being taller helps him. Both of them have great temperament as test batters. I think Jadeja had potential to do even better. Through a combination of less chances and less focus on batting early in his career it took him a while to be where he is now. He is close to 4000 test runs and if Sundar can do that while also taking 200 plus wickets, it will serve India very well. I am worried about Sundar's longevity and fitness though. He is not as athletic as Jadeja.
vvvslaxman Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 All said and Sundar would be a no.3 for most countries.

In certain situations one is going to be better than other and vice versa. Cricket is a skll based game mostly. Walsh couldn't throw from boundary. he could barely run and save the boundary. Couldn't bat. But he was a gun bowler. He did his job.

adi B Posted August 2, 2025 Posted August 2, 2025 I think Washington is a better batsman than jadeja and has a higher ceiling as well . Just don't waste him at #8 ,bat him higher. He is young right now ,let him evolve as a cricketer and a batsman express bowling 1

The context of athelitic here is ..if Sundar can't stay fit, he can't serve India for a decade. His longevity will be affected. All the skills can only be put to use with proper fitness and athletic ability. Not trying to compare their athletic abilities. We have Bumrah who needs a break after playing 2 tests. Has the best skills but can't execute if not fully fit. Lord 1
