We are losing testa because of the defensive selections

It is quite simple..we need to take 20 wickets to win matches and that means four Frontline bowlers for the conditions .. we have good spin all rounders and then can form the no 6 and 7 but no 8 has to be a strike bowler. This is what we did when Shastri and Kohli was captain.

 

It's quite easy to have that combination India as the all-rounder spinners are strike bowlers too .

 

But for SENA essentially we need four fast bowlers

Rahul

Someone

Gill

Pant

Washington 

Jadeja

Akashdeep

Shami or someone else

Bumrah

Siraj

 

You can get a pure batsman in place of one of the spinners but going by form that is not needed. If it's spinning or the pacers are useless like Prasidh...go with kuldeep

I would rather send Jadeja or Sundar up bring Pantatunga at 6-7,that also brings control in the lower middle order

Yes the order can be managed but this stupid selections tiring and injuring our bowlers..making. It ineffective and anyone can fancy chasing against us...plus one big partnership will push us to the very edge....the additional no 8 batsman is not worth the extra 50 runs..yes our tailenders are poor but still better to go with 4 bowlers..Akash can bat a bit .so can Rana perhaps or the haryana pacer who might have a horrible debut

Haryana pacer lacked everything pace, movement, control 

You cannot stoop too low for bowling penetration by going with guys like him and Thakur

Rana ,heard he's injured but there was no report of his injury when he was released 

Before this test they had no fit pacer barring that pseudo pacemen Kamboj and Thakur to play as 4th seamer 

Against England,the batting which they have you cannot play a 4th seamer just for the sake of it,he too should be some quality 

I always maintain if you go to Aus,Eng where we play 4-5 tests we need atleast 8-10 pacers given the form and fitness of our pacers

Please no Bumrah and. Shami any more .. the reason why India losses .. they can only last for 1 or 2 tests .. no point in having them in the team . Time to move on

You should go back and rewatch Shastri-Kohli series again, brother. The only SENA series they have won in their tenure, they played with 3 pacers. In both England series, they played with Hardik/Shardul as fourth pacer, just like Gambhir did in this series

Hardik and Shardul were effective fourth pacers at that time...hardik still might be but Shardul has regressed...no issues with old Shardul playing but current Shardul or nitish are Ganguly level bowlers

I mentioned names as someone who can hold bit of a bat but is a full time bowler...I'm not advocating for selections here ..

 

Yes kamboj was awful but this is just one game..he isn't this slow...maybe he is rushed...let's not be hasty to draw judgement if he has been rated so highly by so many people.

I would call Shardul a fourth pacer in SENA countries back in 2018-2021

Depth is not bad in England. But you still need to include the best wicket takers in the XI. KUldeep was one atleast one 2 or 3  pitches there.
