StraightDrive26 Posted August 7, 2025 Posted August 7, 2025 (edited) Over the years the IQ and knowledge of cricket viewing public has gone down dramatically. People who don't understand the sport will indulge in such stupid comparisons. The journalists and former players have also become so poor that they have started clickbait articles/videos to attract these trolls. The Bollywood fans who only watch IPL and have no in depth knowledge of the game will only engage on star comparisons. I am sure Bumrah does not care about this and I am sure GG or Agarkar aren't going to go after Bumrah listening to some stupid people online. Bumrah is not only India's best pacer ever, he is line to become one of the best pacers of all time and this is all we can do for him? I agree Siraj and others need credit and praise but not at the expense of one of the certified ATG's of the game. I just hope that this nonsense stops but again no such luck as India will play Asia without Bumrah and people will start this nonsense if we win the tournament without him. No matter what they do, they're the first to be criticized despite being the standout players in the team. Poor Jaiswal can't even get into shorter format teams despite being the best opener going around! Virat and Rohit fans have been the worst on social media. Nice guys who just perform for the team and keep away from media don't get the same amount of PR or support. When Virat was struggling to score for 6 years and caused one of the most fragile middle order India have had since early 90's, these same fans were going out of their way to defend him. Same with Rohit when he was struggling in the last year or so of his Test career. Bumrah actually has been performing well, so not sure why the hate? Siraj deservers all the appreciation but again it is not required to pull down another player of the team to praise the other. I am not sure when this culture will change in India. I don't think we deserve players like Bumrah & Pant. Ultimate_Game 1

In the name of praising Siraj/PK/Gill, the team, many are shitting on Bumrah in the vilest manner. Multiple YT channels running videos about Boom being jealous of Siraj (despite their mutual admiration), him underperforming deliberately, thinking he is bigger than the game etc. Even legends like Sunny G indirectly attacked him. Now reports of GG, Agarkar cracking the whip on him.....for what exactly, and what is their standing? Kaif released a clickbait video talking about Bumrah retiring from tests, many such ex-players, you might be seeing all that BS on your feed. I have seen MS fans go after Pant, Ro fans abuse Hardik....but the way Kohlitards are abusing Bumrah makes no sense....he has never competed with Kohli, in fact much of Kohli's test legacy owes thanks to guys like Boom and Shami.....even the T20 WC final knock of his was saved by Bumrah. Had we lost to Saffers, that would have received lot of abuse/mocking like KL's Nov 19 knock. The way Kohli spoke about Bumrah in the T20 WC win celebration, can't his fans pay heed to that? It is clear that Kohli takes pride in fast-tracking Bumrah in tests and backing all his quicks. Not good for his mental wellbeing. No fault of his here, bowled like a champ in a couple of innings at least, not bowlers' fault that we couldn't chase down 190 in Lord's...Headingley was a patta and even there batting collapsed twice. He has always put his body on the line for his country, we don't know to what extent it was damaged in BGT. He might be playing with lot of pain or under strict advice of doctors. When our people target Bumrah, Pant, Jaiswal even when they are performing well, I fully endorse @New guy's views that Indian cricket fans are phattus who don't like flair, aggression, unorthodox cricket etc. No wonder historically we have been minnows, seen as pushovers. And imagine praising Siraj and using that as an opportunity to denigrate Bumrah just because he missed that match. It is a disservice to both. Instead of being happy about a special win like normal human beings, they spread their hatred against one of the greatest matchwinners this country has produced. Why does Indian fandom esp online see everything as zero sum, I can never understand. I see eg.s of this on icf too. express bowling 1

Bumrah was the one who was pulling the team and dead-weights like Kohli. We have likes of @putrevus on this very forum who take every opportunity to take shots at Bumrah and run him down while remaining mum on Kohli's failures over the last 6 years and costing us multiple series. Irony is idiots like him claim Bumrah is a choker. Hilarious that they call others chokers while being a Kohli fan Sgattick10 1

Criticising someone in India means lots of trolling and abuse and calling someone names. Don't think any player deserves that and definitely not someone as good as Jasprit Bumrah. Express your issues with someone only in terms of their cricketing abilites. Can you tell me these criticisms are that? It is not and that is the problem. Even a great like Gavaskar making cringy statements like "Do Jawans complain about cold" etc, it's an insult to the jawans as well. When cricket goes out of the window and it gets personal, it is no longer criticism and goes into the zone of abuse. That's what which needs to stop and that too for someone who had given us great joy with his bowling. If Gavaskar talks about fitness, bowling biomechanics or Bumrah's actual performance in a game that is fine but talking like people who have no knowledge of the game is frustrating. The so called fans, well can't expect much from them anyways, their life revolves around bigging up someone to bring someone down. They don't care about someone's greatness or performances. Siraj is the scapegoat of the month, a month later he will be bashed if he goes for runs in a different formats. AuxiliA Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 I kinda like Kohli, but his online fanbase is the worst gutter trash you can find in the cricket World. New guy Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 (edited) While we always had stupid people targeting our legends, and using similar points (for eg some of our Indian fans and people like manjrekar used similar points for Sachin), those criticism seemed organic and natural even if they were stupid This however seems like some planned campaign against Bumrah because such hate based on a single series, makes no sense, is he threatening Gills captaincy or Gambhirs power? Did he refuse to play Asia cup in private which the board didn't like? There is something brewing behind the scene and Bumrah might be sacrificed for some politics. @Gollum Edited August 8, 2025 by New guy Tillu and Gollum 2

Serpico Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 in Indian cricket, there is implicit understanding that any new player must constantly praise the existing superstar at any given opportunity and if they don't do it, its immediately dubbed as arrogance and ill manners. In fact, even opposition players are expected to constantly praise Kohli/MS/Rohit in press conferences and pander to their fandoms. So, whenever someone like Cummins doesn't follow the usual script and gives a witty answer, they will receive hate for their audacity to refuse to pump up Kohli. When a cricket journo asks an indian cricketer who they think the fittest player in the team is, they must immediately say Virat bhayya like good little boys, because thats Virat's brand, he is the fitness monster etc. Similarly, if they ask who is capitan cool they must understand the cue and say Mahi bhaii. If Bumrah tries to be witty/original and say actually I think I am the fittest, he will be included the hitlist. Anytime he gets injured, the bots will start making memes about his arrogance, how injury is his karma etc. When interviewer asks about wicket celebrations, the bowler must realize that this is an opportunity to praise Virat bhayya for his aggression and passion and how he is fortunate to stand in his grace etc. Instead Bumrah had the audacity to say that he prefers to remain cool after taking a wicket, so that's another offense. And to top it all, Bumrah never played for RCB, so they cannot credit Kohli for 'discovering' the talent like they can do with Siraj. So for all these offenses, anytime Bumrah is down, he will be mercilessly hated until he yields to his majesty the King
