Gollum Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 (edited) Irfan Pathan criticised Jasprit Bumrah for his 'pick and choose' approach in the recently-concluded Test series against England, gave him six out of ten LINK Quote Former Indian cricket team all-rounder Irfan Pathan criticised Jasprit Bumrah for his 'pick and choose' approach in the recently-concluded Test series against England. The BCCI made it clear ahead of the Test series that Bumrah will not play all the five matches. The pacer ended up playing three games and despite India trailing 1-2 with one match to go, he was rested to manage his workload. Pathan pointed out that Bumrah was holding back on certain occassions and cited the example of the Lord's Test where he could have bowled for a longer period of time against Joe Root. “There were moments, like when a sixth over was needed. I spoke about this during commentary as well. Joe Root had been dismissed by him 11 times, and in that Lord's Test, Bumrah bowled five overs. Just one more over, the sixth, could have pushed harder. I felt he held back a little there. There was also some pick-and-choose, which I've always been against, and that was visible too," Pathan said on YouTube. Pathan went on to say that although Bumrah did perform well on occasions, he did not live up to the expectations that the team had. “Bumrah will get six out of ten. Why? The reason is that when you're a senior player, there is a lot of responsibility on you to win matches. He played in three Tests, and India didn't win any of them." “Let's go back to the first Test. He took five wickets in the first innings but didn't get a single wicket in the second innings. At that crucial time, when your main match-winner is expected to step up and win the game, it's up to him to find a way, whether it's over the wicket, around the wicket, yorkers, slower balls, bouncers, to create pressure. In the Leeds Test, we didn't see that pressure being built. England ended up scoring heavily, and Bumrah didn't take a single wicket, which was a bit surprising. And this didn't happen just once,” he added. Edited August 8, 2025 by Gollum
Gollum Posted August 8, 2025 Author Posted August 8, 2025 'I wonder how the BCCI is agreeing to all this': Jasprit Bumrah's workload management dismissed as 'nonsense' by Sandeep Patil ‘Jasprit Bumrah may retire from Test cricket soon,’ says Mohammed Kaif All out smear attack on Bumrah, from all corners. putrevus Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 Since when giving out opinions is called smear campaign. Irfan Pathan is allowed to express his views. What will they gain by campaigning against him.
Bigg Brother Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 Nothing to read much into this. Most of these guys' argument is Bumrah played last ODI 2 years ago(Wc final) and last T20 1 year ago (Wt20 final) and still not playing full test series. Although it wasn't expected from Irfan Pathan as he is sane guy and he himself being bowler should understand the workload management.(Could be tactic bring views on yt channel). Same attack was done against Bumrah when he came back to play IPL 2023 after getting ruled out of wt20 2022. Kaif's video I have seen. It was after 4th test's 1st innings. He meant that Bumrah will retire if he thinks he isn't giving his 100% in tests. He wont stretch it being champion cricketer. It wasn't in negative way.
Tillu Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 BCCI will do anything not to upset their sponsors. They are implicitly sending a message to Bumrah through this smear campaign that we can make or break or your career if you think you can pick and choose matches. For the BCCI their entire existence starts and stops with their sponsors and wouldn't dare even cancelling the Asia Cup. GoldenSun and Gollum 2

Yes it seems, broadcasters have told BCCI that resting Ro-Ko for Aus white ball series in October is a non-starter. Initially it was thought that they would play ODIs only next January at home against NZ. Broadcasters probably also pressurized BCCI to shift Asia Cup away from home, just for the Indo-Pak clashes. Aussie board has also planned some ceremony to celebrate their careers. Tillu 1
Suhaan Posted August 8, 2025 Posted August 8, 2025 I believe everyone in the TM is now washing there hands ,I don't think this was Bumrah's decision alone express bowling and GoldenSun 2

After all you were absolutely fine with Kohli taking "breaks" and "vacations" throughout and not even playing warm ups. But Bumrah managing his injury and who was clearly not 100% in the 4th Test is somehow at fault. All these piece of shytes are pandering to the likes of you. GoldenSun 1

jf1gp_1 Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 Bumrah was struggling. Not sure who disagrees with that fact. We saw it in Australia, we saw it again in England. As soon as Bumrah pushes himself he is out for few months. Irfan is not saying anything which has not been written on this very forum. Now that an ex player calls it out, its been termed a smear campaign. Cant have both ways.
ungboysj Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 With no england and Australia tour for long time don't see need of bumrah in test cricket anymore I think others can manage in sa and NZ and in india we don't need any pacer to be honest Manucrick and Sandz 1 1
New guy Posted August 9, 2025 Posted August 9, 2025 The same guy who got injured and started trundling and spoiled his career, wants the same thing to happen to Bumrah

Thats why he started a YT channel Now suddenly Pathan is a BCCI stooge? Sm abslt dumb fks here Money can make people change any stance. Or he might be just jumping on the bandwagon. Either way, all this is a planned attack on Bumrah

None of them are stupid enough to not know that every country manages the workload of fast bowlers. People like you, who genuinely don't understand this, are in a minority, all of these ex cricketers understand workload management in fast bowlers Edited August 9, 2025 by New guy GoldenSun 1
