What would be your Asia Cup squad ?

i am assuming that Siraj and Boom will be rested for asia cup. akashdeep is UNFIT ..was unfit even in england , was fit just for one test and actually he should be played only if he 101 % super fit.

My pacers would be 

1. Vijay Kumar VYasak- a pacer who gives minimum runs in his 4 overs and bowls from 131 k to 147k
2. Kuldeep Sen- i assume he is super fit and ready to play for India, if he is not fit, dont Pick him.
3. Khaleel ahmed should have played the test ahead anshul kambhoj in england.
4. Harshit Rana 
5. Prasidh Krishna 

All 5 bowl from 130 to 149k (may be vyasak could be the slowest)

 

All rounders-

Ramandeep Singh Or Shivam Dube...and Hardik Pandya

Spinners 

Varun chakrabarthy and the other leg spinner not kuldeep.

 

jaiswal should play tests and odi..gill should never be considered for t20.

According to cricbuzz , the squad likely to be picked is almost the same as the one I've given here.

 

Minus Parag but with the addition of Washington, Bishnoi and Bumrah .

 

Prasidh and Rana are likely to be picked, not Siraj.

Pakistan has also picked a 17 member squad.  Allowed them to have three frontline spin options in the squad.

 

I would rather see Harshit Rana playing A series with Australia though than warming bench in Asia Cup.

Exactly.  I don't think we should send a serious squad to this tournament

 

Quality of Asia cup is going to be less than that of CPL if India bails out. This is the ICC rankings of the teams that take part in this sorry ass tournament.

I love Rinku but its the right decision. Hes struggling for while especially vs spin.

 

If he makes way for Iyer its all good.

Same with Tilak, 2 100s at number 3 in last 7 innings. Deserves a long run without being asked to float around.

 

To accomodate Jaiswal and Iyer, I hope the TM doesn't tinker with a well settled 11 that has won everything since the T20 WC. As good as they both are, they will have to wait for their chances in T20I.

 

Hardik, Rinku, Dube, Axar - this has to be our lower middle order. All used to batting at 5 and below and flexible to move around in the order 

 

 

Because Jaiswal is a better batsman. Yes unfortunate for Tilak but he will be good at 5 also

 

I get the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" argument 

 

But the world cup is not long away this is the chance to try out options... The team could well be better off for it

 

Dube isn't good enough unfortunately

rinku is not that tall, he is already playing too much down the order where there will be more failures than successes plus he is not that tall.

 

Slow bouncers and bowling 7-8 stump line at the depth can be useful against him even the bowler misses the yorker its will be hard for rinku to hit them for 6s that often.

His only role in the team is when there is mini collapse and he need to keep rotating and get the runs.

Actually pretty happy with the squad except for the Gill inclusion. 

 

I would have preferred Riyan over Rinku especially since Rinku doesnt have great numbers against spin and is an inferior bowler but it's not the worst decision.
