Plus Samson. He's useless down the order. Gotta back players who can handle pressure. Ideally Abhishek and Jaiswal open with Tilak at 3 and Iyer at 4. SKY and Samson has crippled this batting lineup and put too much pressure on other batters.

And even Jitesh over Samson in the middle or lower order. Samson is useless unless he bats in the top order.

We don't need to go to him. We have Jaiswal. Get Jaiswal and Iyer in the team and this team will win WT20. Likes of SKY, Samson and Gill are bringing the team down as they're soft and can only score cheap runs.

Sad part is it's such an easy decision to make. Replace SKY with Iyer as player and captain and you're done! It's not as if you're dismantling the team.

 

SKY cost us 2023 WC final at home and if he plays WT20, he'll cost us that WC too.

There are multiple threads going on about Sky, have posted in one of them his all the outings in icc events. Its right poor. Plus his batting vs pak is also poor.

 

And mentioned this the batting combination and line-up is screwed with 2 batter opening the batting in t20is. you need a wkt to open the innings he is like the dispensable hitter in the PP who goes out ever ball and you all add a bowler/batter/allrounder.

 

A couple of batter will always be out of form 1 series to another, it hardly happens all the batter are in top form, happened for Ind in wc-23 which they can not make full use in the finals.

 

The trend/Issue (have not looked into stats much based on their batting style) apart form Abhishek all are slow starters in the Ind side. Plus add an unsure batter sanson in the middle. Snju is eddgy/choppy on his best days which can work if bats in PP but not in open field.

 

Apart from Abhishek all wants to take few balls to start their innings. Here is the list of slow starters::

 

Gill he is slow and if wkts falls he is even slower

Sky (initially relies on  sweep vs spin and that flick hook of pacers)

Sanju in middle order is not hitting anything with confidence

Tilak by design plays like that

Pandaya also like to take few balls

 

 

Here is a problem plus ind does not have a proper finisher.

 

So if in PP abhishek goes down all you have are batters who takes time to get going, cracks are now being visible and that because of 1 change Ind made to the opening order.

Bro the issue is that unlike Sky who will easily be dropped, Gill is the new poster boy, Bcci isn’t dropping him if he keeps on making 50 and keeps a 135 str rate

 

Samson again is very dispensable .

That's true. They're making Gill into something he's not - an all format batter. Gill should stick to Tests and ODIs. Jaiswal should play in all 3 formats with Iyer the captain in white-ball cricket.

We did the same in 2023 WC and I fear unless we drop SKY and find a better wk-batter in the middle order, the same will happen to us in next year's WT20.
