bowl_out Posted November 10, 2025 Posted November 10, 2025 Bans will lead to black market. For a start, they should at least stop surrogate advertising with Paan/Gutka brands. It's not like there aren't other brands willing to advertise.

The same reason why alcohol is not banned either worldwide. I read a good article on this a few years back. The industry is required for the employent, the addiction that cannot be kicked and the fact that as someone earlier mentioned - the fact that in the black market it will become even worse.

Much like the liquor consumer, the one who rides with out a helmet, the one who drinks cigarettes and also the one that consumes fried food every day. Even if they want to consume, They can thook inside their private property instead. No issues But it is not fair/acceptable to spoil public property by thook-ing there.

More gutkha pan masala, more health issues, more medical expenditure, more money by hospitals/doctors...more tax to govt Thats the reason alcohol is openly sold in most of the states, in some states there are even govt control shops to purchase liquor. Its like betting, people anyway do it illegally, why not legalise it and earn on taxes. Cigarette cost have increased by multiple folds...yet people continue to smoke. Lord 1

So basically money more important than social responsibility. They can instead fine it heavily and earn money that way/ But that will require better enforcement of law and order and less corruption (bane of it all)
