I can go on and on. That’s a self goal post. Firstly by calling oneself, as RW, the opposition by default becomes LW. They have no burden, no need for proof their credentials. Just opposing BJP, means you are “secular”. Next, opposition today are clear about their top aim, removal of BJP, and that explains and shows their unity. Yet, they are truly full of contradictions underneath. It’s different for BJP, there is no claim nor clarity on top goal. Every supporter has their own ideas, own self-made reasons. This is democracy and unique. Yet, this causes the default infighting , and exploits the fault-lines. With your example, using regional identity.

His supporters want his party to be seen as "upholding interests of Kapu caste", but he personally is very much against caste politics. In assam though decimated cong is defacto only opposition left. Ajmal party is in tatters. In tn they are back in government after 60+ years. Dmk kept them out of domestic politics. In maharashtra despite being hammered they will be leading the opposion with uddhav and sharad pawar decimated. Uddhav will be playing second fiddle. If i am a cong strategist it makes sense for me for sp to lose up again. Bsp is already on its death bed. Odisha bjd highly likely to disband post patnaik. Aap will challenge bjp for delhi again but if they fail will collapse out of power. It might take a few cycles but bjp finishing regionals helps cement cong as the only other pole. Minorities + sc + leftist voters which no other option offer congress a 30% base in the next decade. Cong can be undisputed party of choice in ls for this segment. coffee_rules 1
