I wonder if the players were asked about his appointment either Ravi Shastri never did any ipl coaching, he was bloddy commentator and got his selection based on kohli recommendation. Such thing happen in Indian cricket so not sure whats new there. Besides, when players whi actually needs to play like sky , mohit sharma are selected based on their ipl gigs whats wrong in coach selection. Suhaan 1
The Dark Horse Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 How do you not replace him? One of his comments was "We should get rid of swashbucking players" Lol guy has a template in his head, may be he's bringing his pain when he was a player into this. Players will be of different types, you need to handle all of them. Kohli, Ashwin could have been easily given another year. He's breaking the team morale from inside. Shreyas Iyer, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Axar, Sarfraz, Arshdeep, Jaiswal..look at the way these youngsters were treated the last year. It's a random musical chairs game with no logic whatsoever. Lord 1
Scarface Posted November 27, 2025 Posted November 27, 2025 GG got unlucky with Gill injury and no solid RHBs to counter Harmer (Maharaj was largely harmless) - could have won 1st test if Gill batted. But still made tactical mistake of playing ARs who weakened both batting and bowling. Apart from the obvious weak batting, we don't seem to find good wicket taking spinners too. Jaddu lost steam, Kuldeep struggles to control the game and Axar/Washi looked ineffective. Any exciting wrist/off spinners in Ranji? deepdynamo 1

While only 2 batsmen scored 50s. Our best guy was worse than Jansen in batting Why are you focussing only on this series though? I'm talking about the whole of last year. Batsmen aren't doing well in most places. Even the recent Ashes Test was dominated by bowlers. Bumrah's speeds have declined ridiculously. Sundar bowls like a T20 bowler in Tests cricket. And Jadeja is not the same bowler he was 3-4 years ago. The batsmen did deliver when we got flat wickets in England. The fact that Jansen and Muthuswamy scored that many in the first innings shows how poor our bowling was.

Jansen bowled far better and generated a lot of bounce and seam because of his control of the wobble and bowled not only accurately but plenty of unplayable balls. Their spinners took all their first innings wickets with deliveries between 77-85 kph even if they got hit a bit whereas Washi and Jadeja were both averaging above 90 kph each at one point. These are massive skill issues. tweaker and MK55 2

Having tremendous bench strength was envy of other countries. Gambhir managed to turn the narrative upside down. Having bench is sort of a disadvantage under Gambhir. They kept sweeping us whereas none of our batsmen swept effectively. Jansen is a foot taller than Bumrah. No wonder he generated more bounce. It was slow bounce though and hence playable.

Harmer and Maharaj bowled more than 30 % of their deliveries in that range. Sundar and Jadeja bowled less than half of that.
