deepdynamo Posted January 6 Posted January 6 Bangladesh series won't be happening for sure. For me, just three series to look forward to in the entire 2026. -T20 WC -India Tour of SL ( just to see how we can turn around our test fortunes) -India Tour of NZ Gollum 1

Hope we also get an Afro-Asian Games instead of Asia Cup with RSA, Zim replacing Pak, BD. 2026 is more about other Indian sports. Asian Games, CWG lined up with so many Indian prospects. FIFA WC, FIH Hockey WC, Chess Olympiad, Candidates and first title defence for Gukesh (will be epic if he faces Caruana/Nakamura or even Pragg which then will make India a top contender to host the match). deepdynamo 1

Want 2 golds from cricket, 2 from hockey. Finishing a comfortable 4th in Asian Games should be top priority for us. Top 3 (China, Japan, South Korea) are in a different league. But we must make it a habit to consistently outperform Uzbekistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei etc. Lone Wolf 1

Iran dominates wrestling and Taekwondo in olympics... Sure shot medalists come for them there. I want us to finish ahead of them in next Olympics somehow.
Lone Wolf Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Last year was pretty light on limited overs cricket. This year we will get much more T20 action. Our T20 cricket is for sure quite watchable than other formats. Edited January 6 by Lone Wolf

What I mean to say is that we must become undisputed 4th in Asian Games, open a big gap ahead of the rest. In 15 years time, target South Korea's spot. In Olympics, Iran will always be a force because in sports where they are good, they are world class....not just Asia's best but world's best. We OTOH are better in athletics, hockey than other Asians and better in wrestling, weightlifting, badminton compared to other Commonwealth countries, then there is the matter of ROTW. India isn't elite in any sport which holds us back in Olympics. Kenya, Iran, Uzbekistan are elite in long distance running, wrestling, boxing respectively, gold contenders. zen Posted January 18 Posted January 18 (edited) IPL would likely remain the most followed event in 2026. T20 World Cup will gain momentum if it is competitive with exciting close games. Usually such tournaments only kick on in the knockouts. Edited January 18 by zen

There shouldn't be any international cricket in June in India- but the Afg tour is there for board obligations. Afg deserve a proper 2 test series in a normal Indian home season but they dont want to do this
