Nothing about the deal. Will be gone in the reshuffle.

Lets wait for the deal to come out. The deal with the EU was very good. As was the Uk.

Heard from USvsources that there is no major agro deal for US, maybe almonds, lentils at the most. No dairy and this 500 billion Venezuelan oil is a little long way ahead and Trump got this PR crumbs to show off to his MAGA base

I heard about almonds, pistachios, fruits etc.

Nothing about dairy and dairy products. Hope it stays that way coz dairy milk is considered sacred and is used as a prasadam to the deities in the temple. No one would appreciate a milk produced out of a cow consuming beef mixed fodder.

Amul sells Milk in US with Milk delivered from local farmers. If india opens dairy market to US, it will be the same with US companies getting milk from local farmers. It won’t be economically viable to get Milk from US base cows to India as the cost benefit will be lost. Indians, a lot fear beef fed cow milk to be sold in india, if it all it happens.

Looks like US Bangla deal is revised to 15% on condition that they buy US military hardware

Does Bangladesh even have enough resources to buy military hardware of US ?

US's military equipments are extremely costly and high maintenance. Unless, they give the deal to US to station their military in Bangladesh...it wont fly.

Pakistan, has loaned their airbases to US. Hence they get on discounted rates.

^^Language is terrible in this but shouldn't we have some reason to move on from Russia?

In CY 23,24,25 indian exports to Russia : 4-5 billion USD. Trade deficit 55-57 Billion usd for each of the 3 calendar years.

Russia just doesn't increase imports from India.

They have bent the knee.. suck it up and move on.  Literally $100 BILLION a year is bugging me so bad.

We will be more integrated with the US economy and it'll possibly be impossible in the future to reduce dependency.

India understands it can't forever run 55-57 billion USD deficit with just 4-5 bn exports to Russia. Even after 3 yrs Russia doesn't buy say to the tune of 30 bn usd from India.

There is no bending of the knee if you understand the fine print - which says including GPUs ( which will be purchased from Nvidia )

Nvidia has become the most valuable company in the world due to GPU demand to train AI/ML models.

You cannot own and build your own LLMs like Grok, Chatgpt, Claude , Gemini etc....without GPUs to accelerate LLM training.

We are building a dozen of our own LLMs for specific use cases as Ashwini Vaishnav has said repeatedly at Davos.

The 100B annual intent - gives us the right to buy WHATever we want in that committed amount.  Be it GPUs  or state of the art defence equipment.

In fact it may help India get competitive prices for defence equipment to fulfill the commitment.

Individual companies like Tesla, Meta, Microsoft, etc...are puchasing GPUs worth 10s of billions of dollars  annually from Nvidia.

You think India will not have such a need ? Without GPUs India will be left way behind in the AI race.

The 100 billion dollars a year commitment will infact help India advance in AI, while we accelerate our own home grown chip making capabilities.

This is the most contentious  part of the trade deal:

Truth is we need corn and soybean for animal feed and blending.

India needs to consume about 40kg per capita of meat and fish  by the next decade. Up from 20kg right now. This alongside doubling milk and milk product consumption is only way we will address protien deficincies. Need animal feed for both milk and meat.

Blending, india needs to move to E50 standards next decade.

@Lone Wolf Piyush throwing Lazer eyes under the bus. In every interview answering questions about Russian oil, he says it’s left to the MEA and it was not. Part of the trade deal .

Maybe he will get the job in the next reshuffle

India purchased 0 barrels of oil from

Russia before 2022. The only reason we stared purchasing after 2022 is the huge discounted prices. So if it goes back to 0 - it’s not like India has lost a traditional crude supplier. Am sure India will ensure that Russia is pacified. The loss of “ oil revenue “ from

selling to India will be offset by big ticket hardware purchases that were already due for India - Su-57 and S-500. As long as we can get similar  discounted rates for Venezuelan oil - it’s not a loss for India.

You seem to have zero knowledge abbut how Milk is distributed. When Amul sells milk in US it is from local producers. It is not economically viable for them to get Milk from india and then sell it in US.  The same thing will happen in india if American brands sell milk. I’m not comparing the quality of milk us. and India. In india cricket Milk and then we have to boil it before using it. In US, we don’t do that, I don’t know the Science behind it something to do with pasteurization of milk in us, maybe. You can  argue without. some name calling.
