rangeelaraja Posted February 23 Posted February 23 South Africa have been painfully starved of world titles in international cricket. Do we seriously expect Morne Morkel to be completely insulated from his national loyalties when India faces South Africa and not share critical insights on preparation, match ups, or team strategy? This is not paranoia or a knee jerk reaction. These dynamics are common in international sport, where information and relationships often run deeper than official roles. speedster 1
Gollum Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I think people at that level are professionals, and look beyond these loyalties and other things. He may be bad at his job (even Pook bowlers regressed when he was their bowling coach), fire him and other coaches for that, performance alone. Raising doubts about someone's neeyat is a slippery slope. Mariyam, Ultimate_Game, Lord and 5 others 1 1 6

Mariyam Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) Didn't we win the ODI world cup in 2011 with Gary Kirsten as the coach? National loyalties are a non issue here. Also, so many South Africa born players have played for England. Loyalty to RSA, may not be their strongest suit. Edited February 23 by Mariyam express bowling 1

deepdynamo Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Its not about loyaly but incompetence. The coaching staff is under fire including GG.
Manucrick Posted February 23 Posted February 23 This isn't a matter of loyalty the BCCI needs to dismiss Gambhir's coaching staff, as they are damaging the Indian cricket team
neel roy Posted February 23 Posted February 23 He is better at test match coaching. Except for the first test in England final innings india bowled well throughout. We would have even won first test if not for three dropped sitters. Even against Saf at home it was the batsmen who couldnt score 120 odd. If india had won the test they would have hammered saf in the next one.
speedster Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Must be kicked out but mostly because he has been useless, I don't see any new paceman improving under his tenure, people like Krishna and Rana continue to be run machines and the latter especially has seen a drop in pace as well. Also he had some natural talent and advantages as a bowler, can help really improve people or is trading on reputation alone. At the end of the day looks like another foreigner making money at India's expense, it's okay if the team and players improve under his tenure but if not then kick him out and bring back Arun who had a much better tenure
IndianRenegade Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Why was Arun let go? he was the best bowling coach Indian had in a long time. Just get him back. speedster 1

BacktoCricaddict Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Also 10 Doeschate. Any coach who publicly calls out individual players like he did needs to be shown the door. I don't know about Kotak. He seems quite analytical and level-headed in interviews, but can he actually coach? No opinion. Lord and speedster 2
