Lone Wolf Posted March 21 Posted March 21 PCB, Pak media and people are ruthless when it comes to coaches, chief selector and bowling coach. And when the team itself is below average, any half decent coach may get traumatized in such a environment. Indian people, our media, ex players are mild in comparison and also the player power is way too much in India. Social Media criticism is the only way there are some changes made in Indian set up.
New guy Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Why do these guys keep agreeing to coach Pakistan? By now everyone knows how the board is. sage, cricketfan28, Vk1 and 2 others 5

Everyone needs a paycheck and TBF there aren't too many options. Eng, Aus and India are Tier 1 followed by NZ and SA. The next best after these is Pak who are better than WI, B'desh and SL in terms of remuneration offered. So in all there're barely a handful of options. An in-demand coach will never go to Pak but it's a nice gig for an upcoming coach who's looking for their first intl gig or for has-beens who want to earn a paycheck before calling it a day. Kirsten falls into the latter category whose best days are past him. tapandrun and New guy 2
Tillu Posted March 22 Posted March 22 I thought Babar and Rizwan would retire from T20is after the world cup. What can any coach do when repeated failures like these get back into the team while doing Zilch. Sifarish culture is so strong in their setup.

Babar is statistically the best batsman in the entire Pakistani cricket history after they started playing under honest umpires. He is just 31. Rizwan miya averages 46 odd in T20s, don't think anyone in Pak cricket history have seen such numbers. They might not deserve a place in teams like SL and Zimbabwe...but for Pakistan they're gold/silver/diamond/uranium/plutonium/thorium/vibranium/admantium. Don't know but I'm guessing yes as IPL is only for 2 months but any national contract is for the whole year. And it could very well be based on franchises. Top ones like MI or CSK may pay top dollars but others like DC, PBKS, RR etc. may be cheap. tapandrun 1

He was but at that time there were talks of change in ownership of gt and change in the coaching staff. So he might have thought that this is a good gig coming. And francise/league coaches have shelf-life, so they want to keep rotating between intnl teams' coaching and leagues' coaching. Its similar to how current intnl players keeps getting good ipl gigs but only leagues players may or may not get an ipl gig<-- exception to this are elite players like who can play intnl cricket but dont want too and are still top of line players -->pooran, klasen, boult etc Jason Gillespie also getting a new Coaching contract with one of the PSL teams Edited March 23 by tapandrun nevada 1

There is no need to retire for them, there have been 4-5 changes in the Coaching teams who had dropped them only to bring them back again. If not the same coach the next coach will call them back. Based on the stats thy are hard to drop and if they retire leagues even psl will not take them as the marquee player.
