tapandrun Posted June 9 Posted June 9 (edited) tilak is not suited to Odis, he can only hit 4/6 when he is absolutely trying for it, he can not play safe and score big at the same which is must in Odis. He lacks off-side game to hit 4s or even run the ball in the gaps for 1s/2s This again shows why t20 6-hitters are not suited in Oids where low risk but high tempo is needed, batters should be able to score in 4s playing along the ground yet hit timely 6s. Thats why T20 6-hitters can not be directly swapped into Odis. Anshul has played each match and the series under any kind of development squad what are selectors seeing in him ??? He looks accurate but he is not , he drifts too much on the pads and he is not accurate in terms of threatening both Inside edge and outside edge Edited June 9 by tapandrun

He will be interesting to watch in Australia during the test series. Hopefully they can keep him fit Beating them with pace and not spin. Lone Wolf, tapandrun and express bowling 3

T20 and ODIs are two different formats. Tilak simply doesn't have the game to succeed in ODIs at this point. ODIs still needs someone who can rotate the strike as that's the platform to build an ODI innings. If T20 and ODIs wre similar, WI in early 2010s would've dominated ODIs as they were beasts in T20s.

I also believed Tilak will do fine in odis but seems we are struggling with next gen players who don't have the art of building innings through strike rotation regularly Tilak showed he can playout tough phases even in t20s and comeback hard at you when needed but his struggles in odis are simply not going away coffee_rules 1

Tilak can do the job in T 20s to hold the Middle overs. Suhaan 1

Kohli built his success on strike rotation and accelerating once set. In the next gen players, I see Rutu and Sai do that well. They should be among the top 3 along with Jaiswal and Gill after Ro-Ko retire. I like Tilak but he has clearly not figured his ODI game yet. I hope he comes good eventually, but I don't see him playing in the top 4 even then. He might be a No.5 in the long term for ODIs Soorma Bhopali and tapandrun 2

At the end of his tenure you will see like 5 all rounders in each formats.
