Our ODI team is too jaded and lacks X factor to win the ODI WC

Yes -t20 batters will have defensive tech. issues, that is given and well understood by all. Issue with Ind batters are they are not suited for these condition and they do not have the game to counter. Can they score some runs in coming games sure , but are they naturally suited for non sc/sc like conditions no.

There lack of off-side game is being expose because ball is moving or have some kind of bit more bounce they can not club leg-side because of the assistance bowlers are getting. On flat wkts the batter can line up for their leg-side shots , and add  bigger boundaries so first batters can not play their most productive shots plus their is bigger boundary so even if they play it it not certain it will  go for 4/6 and then can not to access half of the entire ground.

This is the time , of sort these issue either fix them or get new player who are natural suited for such conditions. Not asking for KL but player who can hit big 6s, who are good vs bit more extra bounce and pace and has decent/good off-side game.

Off side shots are generally well protected . Ring fielders are more on the off side. That is why Jaiswal frequently gets stuck or get out in that area even though he is a terrific off side player. It is the same with Mandhana. probably they best off side player in women's cricket. Yet she could not pierce the field  Unless you play like Travis head,  Abhishek in the air by giving a lot of room it is going to be less productive area.  Even Abhishek has been trapped from time to time. In T20 straight hitting is the most improtant rather than off side or on side.  That is where most big hitters hit. Sanju is an outstanding off side player. But when the ball leaves him off the pitch or in the air he gets out.

No , nothing to do with ring of fielders on off-side for lack of game for Ind batters, they just do not have off-side game.

As for Anhishek and Jaiswal does not have a neutral stance , both have off-side dominant stance, the diff with both is one of them is able to make his own line and length by  moving up-down the pitch and some times laterally and other can not do it.

Abhishek also gets pinned sometime on bouncers but he has counter for it. Either he can move into the line and hook/pull it for a 6 or he dances down and hit it on off-side so bowler does not know.

Most big hitter have v.good power game so they can hit the ball straight down and most big hitters plays in last few overs where default go to ball is yorker hence striaght 6s, and vs spin its always prefered to hiy them for 6s from long-off to long-on or to sweep them for 6s.

Sanju's issue is playing lose game again and again, be it pace or spin he just throws his hands if the ball is moving or deviating a bit , and the issue stems from his v.small forward push and his 1st trigger where is moves back. for such techinique he needs to have v.fast bat speed and need to target leg-side. In simple words he is coiling back to creating energy and then he uncoils it through off-side rather than leg-side hence just throwing the bat

Now that they are goign to use the same team for few moe matches. they should try to make the most of it. Tilak should be tried at 3 now that Kishan keeps losing his wicket inside 6 overs somehow . Run out or holing out.  At this point his self-preservation might work. As per pdogg nottingham wicket helps first 6 overs and you should target bowlers after 6 overs.

T20 was supposed to be our strong suit and we got thrashed into oblivion.

Let's see what the ODI's bring.  Scary prospect with oldies in the side.

Comparatively they have more experience in England.

But its good that got to know what are the limitations of the wc winning t20i side are.

Selecton based on wc win in sc/sc like conditions into odi wc side would have gone the same way as this series.

Ishan/Sundar/Dube are not odi material.

rohit is on v.v.fast declining curve. every inning looks like he is putting alot of effort with not much result.

Sanju is not  solution saw he was unable to score much in last 2 t20i series.

Bro your X factor is Virat Kohli and possibly Rohit Sharma. These IPL stars doesn't know the meaning of handling pressure when it really matters ...

Even an OLD man King and Hitman is better at handling pressure than these flat pitch superstars

So what do people here really want. Lmao when playing t20s u want a future t20 world cup, now we also need to win odi trophy and when playing tests also win test championship. :hysterical:. Simmer down these expectations…. This aint aussie team of 2000s. Where ordinary citizens play better cricket than these over paid loafers.

Last 8 innings rohit has a sr of 88 and avg of 30.

His batting appears laboured; every time he attempts to break free from the pressure, he gets caught. Yes this can happen to anyone but at that age its sign of game fading away very quickly.

If not wrong across his 8 innings this year, he has been caught in the deep or inside the 30-yard circle 6 times trying to force a boundary off a ball that wasn't quite there.

This happens when batter loses confidence in their batting and ability to take the game forward , he is playing more like a slogger than a proper batter.

Iyer in last 8 matches against same opponents scored less runs and lesser SR.

But he is captain of t20 and is number 4. Atleast I know Rohit can handle pace and bounce .

In 8 Odis in 2026 Iyer avg 31 and sr of 85. he is marginally better than rohit in that regards.

If iyer is bad so is Rohit.

Only v.few who thinks IPL and intnl cricket are same thought and claimed Iyer should be Ind t20i captain based on Ipl performances. Its okay to give chances in Ind side based on IPL but to make captain some1 who was not even in 15 member team is a wrong move.

Iyer has issues with bounce and pace , he has found a workaround atleast fr sc or sc like conditions and no one is thinking that he is going to game changer in SA.

And this is not a comparison between Iyer vs Rohit.

Rohit is an opener and Iyer is a mo batter. For opening slot Ind has other options available be it Jaiswal or rutu. At #4 Ind has no option, it will be make shift arrangement.

Iyer in this team is the only batter who can provide any kind of impetus, rest all the batters plays at same monotone rate.

In a world cup setting there are no fixed batting positions, that is what has ruined Indian cricket.

Always get your best players into the lineup then worry about batting spot.Jaiswal should have played in middle order in 2023 itself.

Hussey was opener ended up as a finisher.Rohit has batted at number 4, so can Jaiswal too.

The word "jaded" means by some means get the diamonds of the IPL - everyone knows who they are, esp one in particular -  into the ODI side. That will change "jaded" to "exciting".

Yes posted about players now a days should be ready and develop skills to play at multiple slots , specially in Ind terms. When there are so many proff. cricketers around add multiple skills and play multiple slots.

Jaiswal has not done that be it IPL or local domestic team, rutu started playing in mo for his local team also started keeping wkts in local t20 league because he is getting to know that opener slot is no longer be available to him.

Rohit was mo batter with good power game and such players do well in white-ball if promoted up the order specially open --sachin, jayasurya, Sehwag, rohit ...etc..

Hussey is nt a good example because aus already know he has to play for aus one day, but that sitititation was not coming up where he can open and they asked him to play in mo and it worked v.v.good for him , who are other life-time openers who have worked well in mo..

But now times are changed every batter should be able to bat everywhere in white-all because of so many leagues, every couple of season there will some1 who will look like best amongst of all then existing player in 11/15 have to give their spot to that new player
