He isn't a T20 player and the only reason I can think of is that Pant's a local player and DC may get more fan following with Pant in the team. But he should be no more than 6-8 crore range. Even 6-8 cr is too much for Pant in IPL. He's a bang average T20 batter and anything over 2-3 cr is too much. As for Kuldeep I've never been a fan of Chahal and Kuldeep - both mental midgets. He's a Test player just like Pant and to me this is DC offloading someone they don't want to LSG. Kuldeep can't bat, can't field/catch and loses the plot as soon as batters go after him. He should only be played on a spin friendly pitch and that too when you don't have a half-decent spin all-rounder. nevada 1

Hopefully he isnr made captain. Fitting Pant in any modern day T20 lineup is a problem. T20s has changed and the top order has to strike at 180-200. And the middle order also can't take their time and have to bat anywhere from 155-170 SR. Pant doesn't fit anywhere. Pant is a player who needs to take some time before he can score. That's why his best format is Tests coz there's no pressure for him to score from the first ball. Under pressure Pant tries to manufacture shots with cross batted heaves/slogs, sweeps, reverse sweeps etc. and he fails more often than not. It's sad but he doesn't have a chance in T20s. ODIs may have been an option but Ishan's emergence along with Samson's heroics in the recent WT20 have closed that door as well. That car accident turned out to be a life changer for Pant. And he better focus on Tests coz if he struggles there then likes of Jurel and Ishan can very well take that spot as well and he won't be able to get in.

Same damage perspective Rahane is the reason for KKR's downfall. There was no reason to bring him in. They had a set squad with Venky and Raghuvanshi. But KKR management got Rahane in for no reason whatsoever instead of backing Venky Iyer and the results are there for all to see.

putrevus Posted June 20 Posted June 20 So Pant volunteered to take paycut to facilitate the trade.If he did then this practice needs to be stopped.Why is player responsible to take cut, players associations need to be formed to protect players. Moronic owners loaded with money going for ridiculous auctions based on ego should not be bailed out.
